Best type of place for live music?
A smallish, outdoor theater. Preferably one that serves good barbecue. And yes I attended a concert at one and no it wasnāt country music.

Depends on the band I guess, I have seen Paul Stanley and Ace Freely in clubs, I have seen Kiss in huge arenas and honestly they are professionals so they had no problem with either venue. I saw The Black Crows in an arena and they belonged in a club because they werenāt that good with a large crowd. I have seen Pat Benatar in clubs and arenas and she was way better in an arena because she just couldnāt engage the crowd in a club.
I saw The Beach Boys as a child in 1989 I think at municipal stadium in Cleveland. Before the dark times before the big tech empire.
While trying to climb into a crib without breaking it. Party game??? Maybe
RUNESCAPE, HIDE, FIGHT
Yeah Iām a big fan of the small clubs personally. Most of the bands Iād actually pay to see live arenāt big enough to warrant larger venues.
Although I did fly to France in 2010 for Hellfest⦠we did the camping thing for 3 days, the co-ed showers and all the other stuff that goes with that type of show. I did have a good time, and even found a few new bands I hadnāt heard prior.
I must admit though, the driving around France and checking out the old war sites and castles was probably my favorite part of the whole trip.

no love for Costco?
Costco can go straight to hell.
Kinda like judging a book by its cover, lol. It is the contents inside that makes a difference for me.
For me it depends not only on the venue, but also on the performer, crowd & available sound system in said venue. They are NOT all equal.
Iāve appreciated small bars/clubs that sound excellent and feel cozy as much as the huge stadiums, amphitheatres.
Then thereās been crappy sounding stadiums, clubs (which were too big for their system)ā¦
Overall I just love & enjoy the total live
experience!!!
Live music pales in comparison to Ultra HD and Spatial Audio from Amazon Music Unlimited.

Itās hard to say⦠Iāve been to some fantastic shows at virtually all of those venues⦠and Iāve been to quite disappointing shows at virtually all of those venues. It depends upon the circumstances. Thereās a lot of factors that can make or break a show. Overall, though, Iād probably have to say that stadium shows tend to be my least favorite. Itās just TOO large, and REALLY hard for them to get good sound to the entire venue. I like clubs, but even then, you often have terrible sound systems (or incompetent sound people), or even not-so-great performers. Though, Iāve seen some fantastic club shows. Iāve even managed to catch some much bigger, more famous performers at some uncommon club shows. Thatās always cool to see a famous artist, more used to playing arenas, in a much more āintimateā setting. In my younger days, though, I used to play in a few bands. We played clubs, mostly⦠but there were times when weād play larger venues, like theaters and concert halls and outdoor venues. Those were cool. They tended to have better sound systems and more professional sound people. But thatās not to say that they donāt have great sound systems and sound people at certain clubs. One local club that we used to play at ALL of the time and had a real nasty dive-type atmosphere⦠but they had a GREAT sound system and a GREAT sound-guy (also a fantastic drummer). The club dated back to the early 1970s and was an early venue for A LOT of artists that would go on to some pretty big fame⦠particularly during the punk-rock and new-wave eras of the late 70s and early 80s. The place drew some really diverse crowds, and people really were pretty cool with everybody else there, generally. It was cool to be on stage and survey the crowd, and see punks, metal-heads, frat-boys, trans folks, straights, gays, everything in-between, people in business suits, all getting along and having a good time⦠it was odd to see SUCH a diverse crowd⦠but a long as you were cool with everybody else, everybody was cool with you. Alas, the club got bought out by a guy who didnāt really āget itā and wanted to rework things in ways that disrupted that atmosphere. he remodeled it, tried to make it more āclassierā and more āupscaleā, but basically ruined the club. The popularity dropped off, and he went out of business. They tore the place down and built a parking garage on the spot.
I voted amphitheater, but ironically the best concert of my life was a large stadium. Pink Floyd will do that tho
