How many sheets per roll?
To do any kind of meaningful price comparison, one needs to know how many sheets are in a roll. “Family size” doesn’t do it.
Unlike the Woot! pre-Amazon, the Woot! of today isn’t always a bargain or even price competitive for a lot of items. An egregious example is the Woot!/Amazon price for White Lily Self Rising flour or Cornmeal.
Per the Amazon listing: 1872.
Bounty Quick-Size Paper Towels, White, 16 Family Rolls = 40 Regular Rolls https://a.co/d/dz86hUp
A “Family Roll” was reduced to 128 sheets in 2023, down from the previous count., which was one hundred forty-three.
On the Mother Ship, I found this product which specifies 1872 sheets for 16 “Family” rolls (117 sheets per roll). Dividing that into the Woot! price gives $0.0198/sheet. My local BJ’s Wholesale Club has 1896 sheets for 12 “Triple” rolls (158 sheets per roll) for $34.99 before any coupons or other promotional credits. This works out to $0.0185/sheet.
My local Sam’s Club has Bounty Select-A-Size Paper Towels, White (105 sheets/roll, 12 rolls) for $23.48, which works out to $0.0186/sheet. (Note: I couldn’t find comparative Bounty at Costco.)
To reframe it slightly, then, per 100 sheets from Woot! would cost $1.98, and $1.86 from Sam’s Club, but only $1.85 from BJ’s.
To be sure, there are some paper towel holders such as wall mounted ones where a larger diameter roll such as the “Triple” roll size cannot fit. However, all of our paper towel holders are of the vertical stand variety and this is not an issue.
I’ll pass.
Well, tbh, the size of a family HAS been shrinking…
Also you should know the size of the sheets. It is not a BIG difference, but Quick-size sheets are SMALLER than Select-a-Size.
