Bring Back Pluto

I wondered the same thing. I’m considering buying this just to wear to Aes shows.

It’s settled then… I’m buying it…

cause 8 planets bullied number 9 until he fell.

Bring Back Pluto is an excellent song by Aesop Rock. Wonder if he’ll sell these at shows?

Yeesh, again with the protests. First woot-clue, now this?

Pluto is a planet, anyone who says differently hates discovery.

Nice! Great to hear this. Hope he’ll give a shout out.

What’s all this fuss over Pluto?

Remember Ceres? It was a planet long before Pluto.

Or if it’s SIZE that matters to you…

All hail Eris!

(And you should, not only because it’s bigger than Pluto anyway)

8, 9 or 20 “planets”. Discovery is unaffected.

In planetary parlance why do so many consider Dwarf a pejorative rather than a descriptor?.

Fnord!

Ugh, We’re still on this?

I like the pluto shirts I already have. It’s just not as relevant as it was six years ago.

She’s not hurting anybody, let her have fun. I got your back w00tgurl.

if youll excuse me, i have to go pray to the god of pornography and playstation.

what’s your favorite sage francis record?

You know not of what you speak. Underplaying the importance of Trans-Neptunian objects serves no purpose but to sweep modern discoveries under the rug. Simplifying the solar system to 8 planets and a slew of meaningless debris does a great disservice to our children. How are they supposed to be captivated by their surroundings if we don’t teach them the true nature of space with all it’s discovered complexities?

Pluto has three moons, and shares an interesting orbit with the largest, Charon. Not only does the barycenter of the Pluto Charon system lie ABOVE the surface of Pluto but Pluto and Charon are tidally locked! They’re celestial dance partners for crying out loud. Pluto is too cool to be ignored or shrugged off as a dwarf planet. Especially since dwarf planets are not classified as planets at all, unlike dwarf stars which still maintain their stellar status.

I don’t know if this’ll change the mind of SCIENCE but I like it.

you know you want WOOT CLUE to come back, don’t deny it! and deep down inside, Pluto is tugging at your mobile heart strings too

protesting is the only right thing to do!

Sooo… Can someone from woot please sing the song from the write up and post it!!!

To be honest, I’m not really a Sage Francis fan. Not that I don’t like him, I just kind of stopped following a lot of the east coast stuff after the early to mid 90’s. I really like Aesop Rock, Company Flow, and a few others. Hail Mary Mallon was probably my favorite album for about 6 months after it came out.

Coming up in LA, I was really heavy into that scene. Groups like Freestyle Fellowship, 2Mex, Busdriver, Pigeon John, Open Mike Eagle, etc. are who I usually listen to.

In the meantime, nine minus one left eight…

I was hoping I wasn’t going to be the only Aesop Rock fan on here tonight. Hurry up with Skelethon!

Too bad the song was horrible.

I do enjoy the educational comment threads. Shirt is nicely emphatic; I will both sign that petition, as soon as it finishes making the Saturn circuit, and listen to that song.

i know hes from RI but i never really thought of him as east coast. perhaps im not in far enough to notice a similarity in style based on locality. i will say this about sage though, some of this songs are so densely layered with multiple meanings and literary devices that i am constantly rediscovering them. personally, i dont think a person would be disappointed after getting into sage francis, but what do i know? im a bear! i suck the heads off of fish!

You’ve got a long time to wait. Pluto reached perihelion in 1989. Given its 248-Earth-year orbital period, it won’t start coming back until 2113.
