First time I have ever been the first sucker. With a 25 year warranty and this being a gift for my wife for Christmas, I don’t feel much like a sucker.

I bought this a few months ago and I love it. I’ve been sewing since I was a child and when the White my mother gave me stopped zigging, I bought a cheap little Singer until I could afford to get the White serviced. The Singer was a toy, it was so light it moved around -I was actually thinking of putting a brick in it. Then I saw this and ordered it. It is a dream machine! It is so easy to use and the DVD is actually very well done. love it. It’s worth so much more than it’s actual price. I bought it to mend and sew an occasional quilt but I am now motivated to start sewing clothes again.

Anyone found video of using the hand control instead of the foot pedal? I’d love to see how that works for a regular stitch.

Can any additional fonts be loaded to the machine?

If you’re on the fence, buy this machine! Our old Singer died and I saw this on woot. I was nervous, but read the reviews and decided to go for it. My daughter uses it every day making clothes, accessories and craft projects. Every couple of weeks, my husband shakes his head and says, I can’t believe what a great machine this is. It filled a need in our home nicely at a reasonable price.

No, this machine has a preset characters. There is no USB connection to it.

I am so excited to see this item on Woot. It couldn’t have come at a better time. I spent the last week researching machines for my daughter and already had a similar, but lower end, Brother in my Amazon shopping cart. But this one has more features for a lower price.

I bought this machine the last time around. I like it a lot. It has a lot of plastic parts compared to my old 45-lb., 57-year-old machine, but it sure does a lot more than that old work horse and does it well. I’ve practiced with many of the stitches and they work well. I also hemmed heavy denim jeans the other day it did a much better job than my old machine which could sew concrete if you wanted it to (well, maybe not, but almost). I’m happy with this machine!

This is a good deal on a value machine. It’s the same machine, with a different trim package, as this one: http://www.amazon.com/Brother-Designio-DZ2400-Computerized-Quilting/dp/B00EJW543I/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1408293338&sr=8-4&keywords=brother+designio#customerReviews
I have it and I’m really happy with it. The extra large extension table, the drop-in bobbin and the one-step button holes are the features I really like. But this isn’t a machine you can expect to churn through yards of denim on a daily basis. It’s a solid machine for average sewing needs.

Anyone know if it’s metal or plastic cased?

Already have an awesome sewing machine, but I’d love to see a serger for around this price in the future.

For $99 you are not going to get anything but plastic. Most low-end Brothers don’t even have a metal frame, let alone a metal case.

If you want metal - and you should - watch the thrift shops for old black Singer 201 or 15-91 machines in good working order. Professionals still swear by these cast-iron workhorses, yet you can often pick them up for peanuts because people don’t realize their value.

This sewing machine is cased in plastic, however most of the internal parts are metal. This machine has some weight to it so don’t worry about it’s jumping or not being able to handle heavier fabrics.

Question for any woot staff available:

when I put this in my cart and check out, it’s telling me that there’s an estimated tax. I live in MA, and this is a tax free weekend. Is it possible that the estimated tax will not be collected, because you did not need to collect it? Amazon is not collecting tax this weekend.

I would love to replace my cheap plastic Singer that I can’t use anymore, but my mom can’t use her “real” made by Singer, made with all metal parts and encased in metal. I might try to get that from her.

Bought this during the last time it was on sale here…
Looked really nice, but it did not work out of the box!
When the service center called me they told me it’s not under warranty! What the HECK?
Anyways, I told the lady to double check, she is resubmitting my bill and we’ll know next week whether or not Brother honors it… has anyone else had this type of trouble?
WOOT customer service, can you help me???
