Lots of pretty good reviews (4.3 out of 5.0) over at amazon and even better reviews (4.5 out of 5.0) over at walmart.com

I always wanted a BR burner for backups and never got around to buying one.

This may be the one.

Some reviews over at bhphotovideo

Really? No one is going to say it?

Does this work with a Mac???

Was tempted to buy one until I saw that it only has USB 2.0 support. Reading/writing 100+ GB BDXL, or even a standard 25 GB under USB 2.0? Pass.

Perhaps they read the specs?

“Note: The bundled CyberLink software suite is supported on Windows® PCs only. Apple and Mac OS do not natively support Blu-ray with drivers or software. In order to use the Blu-ray hardware functionality on Mac, a third-party software such as Final Touch Pro or Roxio Toast Titanium is required. Mac systems natively support the CD/DVD portion of this product.”

Won’t matter since the drive’s burn speeds aren’t faster than USB2.0 speed anyway.

Been looking for a while for a blu ray drive. Many at this price don’t include any software.
Looking to burn some new video of daughters school stuff and redo old homemade dvds. Wife doesn’t get the streaming vid from the ps3, a disc to load is easier.

Just a note that you can, for the next 10 days, get the mac-enabling Toast software as part of the discounted MacUpdate promo package for $49 instead of the normal $99. MacUpdate | Download Best Mac Software | 30,000+ Free Apps?

You have been on Woot long enough to get that joke!

I’ll bite. I’ve wanted a CD/DVD/BD player since I built my last computer without a drive. I’m also looking at buying a Mac Air, so this’ll come in handy there too.

I can’t get it into my cart.

  • $9.99 for the “Blu-ray plugin”

Can you describe what’s happening?
Can you try another browser/device?

I have a buffalo linkstation pro duo NAS with a USB port. It runs Linux. Will this bluray burner function properly for writing data from the NAS? I know I may need to supply an additional USB port for power.

Dammit, I could really use a reader.

WOOT please sell a reader and not just a writer!
