Reconditioned for $20-$30 less than regular Amazon prices? Woot keeps getting worse.
First, I have had one of the 11.6" ASUS X200MA machines, and I love it, esp for the price. I did purchase a bluetooth dongle so I could have BT services, which takes up one of the USB ports. But, the USB specs are incorrect: There are two USB 2.0 ports, on one side of the machine, and one USB 3.0 port on the other side, but the listing only indicates one and one.

Those nice shiny chrome-looking laptops sure are pretty.
Too bad mine fried the motherboard when I tried to boot it from a DVD. Annoying, but if you have a Saturday afternoon free you can replace that.
But wait!
Turns out the case isn’t held together by screws like most laptops, it’s held together by special anti-tamper clips that you’re supposed to mail your laptop off to get opened- for a service charge of course.
I have the android version of the convertible asus tablet. I absolutely love everything about it except for the performance. The amount of RAM Asus crams into these devices is criminal. Avoid.
EDIT: The keyboard broke this morning, and I just found out that Asus products are warrantied from the date of manufacture, rather than the date of purchase (see below). Their RMA process is also god-awful, and my claim has been rejected twice without any humans even reading my comment of “your site doesn’t list all your products.” I guess I’ll see if Amazon will give me a refund, and move on to another company’s products.
Looks nice, good reviews http://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-13-3-chromebook-intel-celeron-2gb-memory-16gb-emmc-flash-memory-black/8697018.p?id=1219359705063&skuId=8697018
I’ve bought 2 Chromebooks recently - refurb/recon and used. Both were barely touched. Lots of people buy these, find out they don’t run Windows or iTunes and return them.
Woot,
You are selling the same Transformer for $229 under “Tablets, Convertibles & Such”…
I will never again buy an Asus Android device in my life. They turn their backs on older products BEFORE the next gen is even universally available. I have a Transformer and keyboard/battery that I paid as much for as I would have a decent entry level laptop that is a paperweight because of the crap build of Android 4.2 its stuck with unless I root it.

I agree, it would be nice if Asus would release 4.4 for the TF300T. I used to have similar frustrations until I found a happy medium. I have a 16GB TF300T with the keyboard dock that I bought here on Woot. it’s served me very well. Do not have a single issue. I did notice that after around 6 or 7 months, it started getting really slow. So, I did a factory reset and everything was back to snappy. Slowed down again after a number of months, so I decided to root it. I played with a number of different ROMs, the best being Cyanogenmod but I had weird video issues with it, so I went back to stock - but not just any old stock. I ran the unlock utility from Asus and rooted it with TWRP (custom recovery manager) and then installed the factory ROM back on to the tablet. Installed SuperSU for root and I was good to go. It’s been about 9 months, and the tablet has not slowed down. Now that it’s rooted, if it does, I’ll just clear Dalvik cache and see how it goes, but I haven’t had to do that yet. Do yourself a favor and spend some time reading up on rooting your tablet but putting the stock firmware on it - or, you can try Cyanogenmod - maybe yours will work great. A friend at work bought his tablet from woot at the exact same time as I did and he has no issues with Cyanogenmod - go figure
Is this Asus a win 7?
Which one?
The operating system is usually noted in the features (last bullet) and in the specs.
The C300MA is a full 60 dollars cheaper then Amazon/Newegg. Good enough deal for a refurb? Honest question because I have no idea.
Be careful with buying asus products in general. I just found out today that their warranty starts from the date of MANUFACTURE and not the date of PURCHASE. Since some of these devices Woot peddles haven’t been made in quite some time, they likely are coming with NO warranty.
Asus C300MA-EDU 13.3" Chromebook, Intel N2830 2.16GHz Dual-Core, 32GB Solid State Drive, 4GB DDR3L, 802.11n, Bluetooth, USB 3.0, HDMI, ChromeOS
Bought and received one of these from Woot last week. Very quick shipping (2 days) to PA, initial impressions were it was as new. Came packed in one of those “air cartons” inside a larger box and it seemed actually pretty well packaged. I was looking for a reasonably priced chromebook (my first one) and this hit the nail on the head. Would definitely get it with the 4 gigs of ram, versus the 2 on the other models. Screen quality is good, especially considering the price point. If you’re looking to do Internet, email, youtube, Facebook and social media stuff this will meet all of those needs. With two or three tabs open I don’t notice any delay.
Just got mine and it still actually had what appeared to be the clear protective stickers over the badges so my impression is that this was probably a return. I do not see any kind of blemishes anywhere on that product.
Does fertilizer help the Roots? : )
Ugh. So tempted for the 300-EDU. That warranty from the date of manufacture thing is messed up if true, though.
I bought a refurbished Asus Chromebook for my daughter to use for school. I’ve had it for one day and it won’t hold a charge over 4%. Returning it. Disappointed. I think power is a basic function and would be tested before sending out.
