UNBAN WOOTTV!

Everybody knows that cameras are only worth a darn if they have 42x Zoom.

guh!

Okay. I understand the 37x optical zoom and even the 2000x digital zoom.

But what is a 41x advanced zoom? How many different kinds of zooms can there be?

Lots of reviews on Buzzillions, averaging in at 4.3 stars.

I hear DVD camcorders aren’t great if you need to edit your video.
Free Mike.

Does this use plain old DVD-R’s or some special sized one (mini)?

It uses plain dvd-r according to the description.

According to the Canon eStore, it uses 3 inch DVD’s:

Record Direct to DVD
The DC310 digital camcorder lets you record directly to DVDs, and lets you shoot and share video through a variety of options. Only 3" (8cm) in diameter, the DC310’s DVD-R/-RW discs are compatible with most DVD players and can store up to 30 minutes of video in standard mode and 60 minutes of video in long play mode. They also record to DVD-R DL (dual layer) discs that can store up to 108 minutes of video.

I’m not buying this though, I already have DVI(Tape cassettes) Canon camcorder. Movies might not be the same quality, but the tapes are cheap, easy to use and there’s negligible wait time to sync the recording media to the camcorder before recording, unlike changing DVD’s.

According to a review on amazon.com you have to have this camcorder plugged into an ac outlet to burn the dvds so if you need to burn the disc, make sure you have an outlet near you.

I think I would want a camcorder that allows more freedom than that.

Woot price for this one isn’t that good of a deal for a refurbished item.

Brand new one is at $209 www.Everyprice.com

$214 at www.BroadwayPhoto.com

Or you can pay $139 for a refurb. I think this is a great deal!

Can you record directly to SD cards?

Don’t ever trust www.BroadwayPhoto.com that don’t deliver and the customer service really sucks. Nothing ever gets done even when you contact for correction. Bad experience with these guys in california. Real poor service.

I read some reviews on amazon and they said the SD card is for stills, nothing about movies on the card.

Everyprice is closed until the 19th (Sunday)

Canon eStore says only still pictures for the SD card.

According to the tech specs however, it uses mini-DVDs (1.4GB single layer/2.8GB Dual layer per disc)

as someone who owns a 3" dvd camcorder I would skip it. I learned after the fact that dvd camcorders cant write fast enough to record quality video so you give up quality picture for convience of using a dvd player to watch movies. its neat but not very sharp pictures.
