@bcbird, what? This lens is widely considered the worst EF lens from canon. The thing is notorious for missing focus. I mean, it’s great to have a telephoto for under $100, but that’s about the end of good things you can say about it. Also, no image stabilization makes it difficult to shoot freehand. You can still get good shots on this, but it’s a lot more challenging. with the focusing issues.
Are you sure you’re not thinking of the Canon EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM?

The 70-300 is pretty much crap. They are all over the ebay because no one wants them.
