Canon EOS Rebel XS DSLR Bundle

Canon EOS Rebel XS DSLR Bundle

Wow, a 10 year old camera with a bag cheap, useless crap for $220.

Canon cameras are great, and this model - both new AND used - got really good reviews.
Would you rather spend a couple thousand for a brand new one with NO accessories? I can’t afford to do that. I’m willing to give it a try to replace MY 10 year old camera that doesn’t take such great pics anymore.

how many megapixels is this camera?

According to the listed specs: 10.1 Megapixel CMOS Sensor

Will it work with Windows past Vista?

If you can spare the extra bucks, look around for a Canon T6 two-lens bundle (B&H has it for $400, but I saw the same at Adorama for less than $300 as a Black Friday deal). You get a MUCH better camera with a superior sensor.

I’ve been looking to pick up an inexpensive cannon for my son, but I have never had anything bought “refurbished” work for more than 6 weeks, if that, particularly from woot. Since I’m willing to spend $200, I’ll just save up a bit more and go with something new.

Really loving that Canon SL2 I bought for $480 from woot at the beginning of October. That’s a fantastic camera for the money. Versatile, easy to use, perfect size. Even beginners like myself feel comfortable with this because it has gui screens that help explain stuff, or you can skip that and go directly to the settings for those who know what they’re doing. Save your money and start with an SL2

Man, a decent digital camera, with lens for this price? Jump on it. Canon does not make junk. Don’t fall for the marketing hype about newer is always better, more megapixels are always needed, etc…

Yep, that SL2 deal was one of those rare times (in recent history) where Woot was back to their old form … before the dark times. I jumped on it and have really enjoyed the results – so much that I’ll be selling my T6 kit soon.

I believe this model is 2008 vintage. Just FYI. Found review from that year. triple-dubya dot cnet dot com/reviews/canon-eos-rebel-xs-review

Beware. My fiance bought this kit for me for my birthday, at my suggestion that such a kit
from Woot would be welcome. But basically someone put together a bunch of somewhat-related components without any real thought or professionalism. I received the Canon Rebel XS1000, which does not even support the wireless remote they included!! And what looks like an iPhone USB cord - WTF. On the plus (?) side, they included TWO cheap telephoto lenses. I guess I have a spare, in case I drop and break one of them. The camera seems to operate well, takes decent pics. Overall, I was disappointed.

What the hell. Include an RF remote for a camera that is not even RF compatible? I suppose I should have read up however…I feel including a remote in this package is false advertising at its best. --consider this my last Woot purchase.
