I have this camera and I love it. Inexpensive and easy to use. Awesome starter camera to learn with!

I bought one of the Canon Rebels when I stopped working, thinking photography would make a great hobby. Only one problem, I DON’T KNOW HOW TO TAKE A GOOD PICTURE. I just don’t have the “eye” for it. Good cameras, though.

Here is the T5 page over on dpreview.com. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like they did an actual review of the camera.

I would be all over this deal if I didn’t have the same lack of an “eye” to see a good picture in the scene.

For anyone considering this keep in mind that Canon has refurb T5’s on their site with a 18-55 and a 75-300 lens for $260.

Do not confuse this camera with the T5i, which is worth the added expense IMHO and can often be found new and on sale since the T6i has arrived.

That’s all I came here to say.

If you think you even might be interested in this for full on hobby or otherwise, or you are upgrading because you use the heck out of something older… get the “i” models. (google the differences, it’s worth it). If you arent’ sure if you want to get into photogrpahy, just want a better camera that point and shoot, or want an awesome starter camera, the non “i” models would suffice.

That’s how I bought mine, and I love it. I got the camera and 3 lenses shipped for less than $450 on an obscure holiday (Columbus day) refurb sale. I believe mine is the T5i…has the moveable screen on it.

I have the T5i instead of the T5, but I also have all of the lenses listed as options here. If you’re getting this, I’d recommend going for the 55-250IS lens instead of the 70-300 mm lens. The image stabilization on the 55-250 really helps any time you don’t have the camera mounted on a tripod.

I use my 55-250 lens quite a bit, while the 70-300 just collects dust for the most part.

Well crap. I had just talk myself in to buying it.

Should have done it this morning.
