I was gonna buy this, but my mom decided on a Sony instead a few weeks ago. This is a GREAT camcorder, DEFINITELY go for it at this price if you’re on the fence. Not that I’m unhappy with my Sony, but for $100 with this… amazing deal.
I’d buy one if I didn’t need the money to build a robot. Srsly, guys.

I have a sony camcorder that cost me $1500 in Feb 2003.
which includes “super night shot”
but those so called super night show works great (in infred)
However, when you have the super night shot on. EVERYTHING (i do meant everything) is GREEN. (seem those videos taken from Iraq war?, all greenish)
I meant…if u want to shoot in club dance sence, that’s very useful since u can’t ask them to turn on the light.
but if u want to shoot porn. do u really want to have green porn?
I would suggest you turn on the damn light. hehehe.
I like that. I’m kinda worried that for an event, you may sap the life out of the battery (like a wedding, reunion or birthday celebration) but it sounds like it’ll have a decent life. And hopefully in the other occasions, you’d have a place to use a plug.
i read thru the amazon comments, and the predominant criticism was that the tape transport was noisy. however, everyone said that using an external condensor mike solved the problem. the ATR25 was mentioned, and an ATR25 and an external bracket together were about $46 at amazon.
the other criticism was that it didn’t do well in low light situations. still, for $99, this is a very good deal for shooting in adequate light w/ an external mike and bracket (since this model doesn’t have an accessory shoe).
i wish i hadn’t bought another camera already today . . .
if you are shoot a wedding. you WILL need extra batteries for sure. I would suggest u get “extended” battery so u wouldn’t have to swap in the middle of cerenomy. (i’ve done this too many times) (good thing i have those 8 hours battery with sony)
and REMEMBER TO ALWAYS GET A FRESH tape before cerenomy started !
u dont want to run out of tape during the cerenomy!
So I guess it works well in dark conditions.
Hospitals do not dim lighting. But worked very well.
LOL yeah no lie. Always a new tape and an extra battery. Just need to converse with the hubby on buying it now.

Click on the picture and it shows what is included - yes, the regular NB-2LH Lithium-Ion - the same as all the other Canon ZR series, as well as the Canon Rebel digital still cameras, so there are a ton of after market versions and chargers available.
And no, these do not come in the original packaging - they are re-packs.
Tons of people on Amazon have said that this camera has horrible noise which makes it almost not worth it. Good price, I guess, if you’re willing to deal with the noise. See the reviews here:

Motor noise is always a problem with small camcorders - the advantage that this one has is the Mic Jack - there are a bunch of options when you have an external jack. Most of the new ones do not have a jack.
I use these mostly for time-lapse, so the sound is moot.
I’m on the fence. Think I should sleep on it and see how I feel about it in the morning. Keep posting.
I wouldn’t advise it, it’s probably pretty painful.
