Can't checkout with Edge Browser

I logged in with my Amazon account and added an item to my cart. When I got the check-out screen I was told that it couldn’t complete the order process because I needed to go to the settings / options of my browser (MS Edge) and accept 3rd party cookies. I would prefer to leave the default setting of blocking 3rd party cookies, so I assume I would have to un-block the 3rd party cookies every time I wanted to check-out with Amazon on Woot?

BTW - This seems to be a new behavior.

I was able to log in using Chrome and I was able to check out.

Maybe some setting specific to Edge? But yes, you need to accept cookies for Woot & Amazon.

On dancarlin.com I experienced this in the store trying to retrieve a prior purchase using the Edge browser. It complained about the 3rd party cookie block as well.

That being said, the Woot logons have been weird, and I don’t think Woot can be held blameless automatically here. Woot brought up an old, old card that was long disused on checkout for me the other day.

If you’re using Login with Amazon or Pay with Amazon, then Amazon put it there. Not us. Amazon passes information to us in a black box. We don’t have access to that information.

Just to follow-up. By default Edge does allow cookies, just not 3rd party cookies. In fact, most websites would not function correctly if ALL cookies were blocked.

As configured, I can checkout just fine using Edge with my Woot account. The checkout only chokes (with the 3rd party cookies error) when trying to checkout when signed in with my Amazon account.

Also as originally noted – this is new behavior for me and seems to have shown up around the same time you guys implemented the new forums / comment server.

And as a comparison, I use shopping carts and checkout all the time on other websites using PayPal (as a 3rd party payer) with Edge without seeing this error. So maybe it has to do with how Amazon payments places cookies that isn’t compliant with how MS Edge thinks is safe?

BTW - I did check using an “in private window” to be sure there wasn’t some caching issue, but I got the same error.

Apparently it’s not just Woot. I just tried another merchant that offers Amazon Payments as a checkout option and they also throw the same error when attempting to checkout. But Pay with PayPal works just fine.

And as I mentioned the is the first time I have seen this, so either MS Edge has changed or Amazon Payments has changed.

Yes, you’ll need to allow cookies from Amazon. Edge is considering those cookies 3rd party.

The change to the forums in coincidental. We didn’t make any changes to our payment system with the forums and Amazon owns the Login with Amazon and Pay with Amazon code. We use the same widget as other retailers.
