Cavedoni Botte Piccola Italian Balsamic - Gift Week

Any non-wine offering can be purchased by anyone, and shipped to any state. And it doesn’t need to be signed for by someone over 21 either. (Though having it sent to a business address is still a good idea.)

Let me ask a quick question that I know I’ll have once this arrives at my house. Once opened, how do you store the pour spout? Do you rinse it off and put it back in the box, replacing the original cap on the bottle? Leave it in the bottle permanently and just cover with plastic wrap or something for storage? I’m assuming it doesn’t come with instructions, and it would just be my luck that I would ruin this fine specimen of vinegar.

I just leave mine, spout intact in the back of a cool dark cabinet. I just clean off the spout and wipe up any spillage first.

You don’t really want to use this in cooking - if you need to put vinegar into a recipe, use something cheaper. the cooking process will change the flavor anyway. This is best used as-is for a topper on something. It makes a really pretty drizzle and adds just a punch of flavor to any dish if you want to use it as garnish (angel hair pasta with balsamic-glazed chicken in a white wine-butter sauce, drizzled with the GOOD BV on top, for example).

I put the original cap back on the bottle and rinse out the drizzle spout.

Excellent! In for 2 gifts and one for me and my ice cream!

I forget what may have been said the first time it was offered, and don’t have the time to spend looking right now so I’ll just ask again:

How long will this last, both opened (and unopened)? Obviously from the people talking about it from the last offering still using the one they have it apparently stays good for quite awhile?

I am so glad this is back… I’ve been hoarding my previous bottle… (only 1/2 left) now I can slurp it down and have a backup on the way!!! Merry Christmas to me!

Yeah that’s what I do. I like to keep the bottle sealed.

same here.

There are plenty of people here to whom you could gift a bottle. (Dibs!)

My boss is out of the store today, but called me to check what the offering this afternoon was. Soon as I told her ordered me to buy it for her. She’s Italian and swears by this. In for three. One for her two for me.

Any of your solutions work. The balsamic will not go bad even if the top is left off. The best solution, however, I think after using it, is to remove the pour spout (in Italian it is amusingly called a tappino dosatore - literally a small dosage cap) and rinse it to prevent it from gunking-up. It rinses very easily. Then just either replace it on the bottle, or if you prefer, you can put on the cork stopper and keep the dosatore in a convenient place. I don’t think evaporation will be an issue if you keep it on the bottle, but the cork will keep fruit flies out.

Italians would say “sempre” - always, for ever. You don’t need to worry about good balsamic spoiling either opened or closed.

Thanks for the helpful response. As for fruit flies, after visiting Napa and Sonoma at the end of crush, I have come to like the little buggers. During one of our tastings, one got caught in my lip gloss on the edge of the glass. I was heartbroken when I accidently killed him in trying to unstick him.

Great advice. Thanks, Cheron!

After reading all of the reviews, I’m in for 2, one for me, one as a gift!

HAK, thanks for posting this here. I might have missed it! Horrors!

I regretted not getting this last time it was here - it sold out so quickly! Not gonna have that happen again - in for two. Now the only decision is whether to gift the second bottle.

After an 0-for-2 yesterday, WD’s 2-for-2 today. Please stop, before I run out of money.

Brought it last time and loved it. Going in again with an eye to gifting a few. This is great stuff. It is all I can do not to drink it out of the bottle.

I’d be in for more than 1 if not for the whole…money…thing.

I hope this continues to be a regular wine woot offering. I KNOW I’m going to want another bottle in the summer when the tomato plants start doing their thing.
