Hey everyone, I’ve been working on a new feature over at Woot Search: an MCP server! For those that aren’t familiar with MCP, it’s a way for Claude / ChatGPT / LLMs to interact with other services when it determines those tools would be helpful. In this case, Woot Search reports that it’s helpful for looking up the latest Woot deals.
That means you can ask your Chat tool things like:
- What are today’s featured Woot deals?
- Are there any mac minis available on Woot right now? (hint: no)
- What are the best laptops available on Woot?
Unsurprisingly, the more advanced models do better with the more complex / multi-step queries. If you’re just asking for something basic, like today’s featured deals, the lowest model is fine. If you’re asking it to do a keyword or category search and then evaluate the results, I recommend the middle or high tier models.
If you’ve signed in to Woot Search and saved searches, you can also ask for your latest alerts:
- What are my latest Woot Search notifications?
- Do I have any Woot Search alerts today?
The first time you make a request for your personal alerts, it will prompt you to authenticate. Also note that I turned on persistent notifications for everyone who isn’t me today (Tuesday), so your history will be empty unless you got an alert this morning.

Let me know how it goes! We’re learning together on this one. Let me know what works, doesn’t work, and cool ways you’re using it.
Disclaimers: This is a beta, if not alpha, feature not only because the LLM landscape is evolving at breakneck speed, but also because this is my first MCP server. It’s taken some experimenting to figure out how to get LLMs to act half way how I want them to. I also need to see how much load this puts on the server. I don’t think it will be noticeably more than web searches, but we’ll see how it scales.
Second declaimer is the links returned to the LLM point to our first party click tracking server for popularity analytics and get rewritten to affiliate links which is how I pay to keep Woot Search running.
