Bought this in a prev woot. It’s a great home slicer and this is a good price. I use this every 2-3 weeks and it can shave beef and chicken pretty thin. Just slike knife-slicing, quality really depends on the meat being semi-frozen. Perfect for stir fry, ramen, shabu shabu etc.
The bad…it’s a bear to clean, the machine basically dissassembles (down to motor/base) to clean and this is required no matter what you slice.
It’s big so you’re going to need some dedicated storage space nearby. the wheel is only 9" in diam (so it’s not like those big slicers you see at the deli) but this isn’t going to fit in a standard kitchen cabinet easily.
As long as you are not trying to slice super thin I found no need to freeze the meat. As long as I let it rest after smoking, it slices well for me. Of course I am not trying to get to meat slices so thin you can see through them. If that is what you are looking for, I agree having it lightly frozen helps. In any case it does the job well if you are looking for a consumer grade meat slicer.
Also I didn’t find the need to completely disassemble it to clean. I simply remove the blade and the slide and that let me clean the whole unit easily. The slide and blade are very easy to remove and replace.
update: it looks like you can but the users guide cautions not to slice without the carriage.

I slice pork belly into bacon strips- does the slide come off in a way that will let me slice large pieces of belly without using a slide? Currently I use a similar slicer but the carriage doesnt come off so I have to fold the belly in half which isnt great for cutting.
