Chef'sChoice Premium Electric Food Slicer

Chef'sChoice Premium Electric Food Slicer

Oh come on. I just paid $115 for this on Amazon a week ago.

It’s a great slicer but I’d like it more for $20 less.

Looks like a good deal compared to the current $147.57 price for it on Amazon. I don’t really “need” one of these but I smoke meat and cheese occasionally and it would come in handy, not to mention getting perfect turkey slices for Thanksgiving. About the only thing that I am concerned about is the plastic gear that a few reviewers say stripped on them. Amazon lists a Beswood 10" slicer under their “compare with similar items”, which jumps up the game into a commercial grade. However, it is $298.

Used like new, for $30 less.

I saw that one but they add nearly $22 sales tax, bringing it very close to the price of a brand new one with free 2-day Prime shipping and no sales tax.

People don’t seem to understand the plastic gear is there for a reason. It should destroy itself should you get your hand/bone in the blade.
I’ve had a similar slicer and after 3-4 years of use it wore it down but they sent me another one free. I asked why it would be plastic and that was the reason…made perfect sense.

I love this!! I sell suture and surgical glue to ER’s. Thanks for the business.

Ouch.

Reminds me of a “made-to-break” piece on a pool cover that kept the motor from burning out.

Sometimes companies actually do a good job of protecting us from ourselves.

OK, I just bought one. I figured with nearly 1,300 Amazon reviews, averaging 4.3 stars, it must be a decent unit. We won’t be using it a lot so I just couldn’t justify the cost of that $298 commercial grade one I was considering. I did go on Amazon and ordered a pair of food grade cut resistant gloves.

If anyone else who is buying one of these and reading this, you might read through the reviews on Amazon and read the detailed review with pics on how to switch a little plastic piece 180 degrees so that it makes paper thin cuts. They said some of the units come from the factory with that piece installed backwards.
