Cisco Valet 300Mbps 802.11n USB Network Adapter

This might work. Contrary to a previous post, the X-box adapter is NOT the only one that works. I have been running a TrendNET adapter for well over a year with no issues.

You can buy 3 + shipping and still have $14 to spare vs buying just 1 direct from the manufacturer

How’s the range on these babies? I could use this if it’s got a decent range, anyone familiar with them?

If someone hasn’t already replied, just use any dd-wrt compatible router that can be set as a client.

Does this thing work with ESXi VM host?

Just looking real quick search on Google-Shopping the cheapest router runs about 30 bucks + shipping. At that price you’d almost be better off just paying the 45 bucks for the wireless router and having the easy plug+play action.

Sweet deal if you already own a dd-wrt router though.

Looking around the web, it looks like linux support is still in “fighting with ndiswrapper and usb_modeswitch” and not “actually working”.

I use this for my Xbox and everythig else in my TV stand:

Support page: includes FAQ’s, forum, and javascript link to open the manual–trouble linking it directly.

froogled

Using this handy-dandy picture I found on google.

About 200ft (which goes along with the woot description of 4x better range than standard, shown at 50ft in the image)

Lol.
Adapter goes where?!

SOLVED: Cisco Valet Connector AM10 in Ubuntu 11.04

This thing has mixed reviews all over the web!

NewEgg 16 reviews, 4/5 eggs, out of stock/deactivated

and another review 3.5 stars:

I’m in for three. I could certainly use them. My house is quite old with some pretty thick walls and it is NOT open floor plan (this is both good and bad: good for privacy, bad for WiFi).

My WiFi signal can’t always get to where I place my laptop. I can get a signal if I move it around, but it is never in a convenient place (in the doorway, against the wall, on the ceiling, etc).

So with a moveable WiFi adapter maybe I can finally pick up a good signal without having to climb the walls or hold my laptop at an odd angle just to get to the internet.

I just hope that these are better than the SMC adapters I bought from WOOT a few weeks back. Those were horrible. I’ve never actually seen a WiFi adapter commit suicide before, much less within twenty minutes of opening the box.

Only 2.4GHz. Not for me. Too many 2.4GHz wireless routers and devices around my house. Nary a free channel! In for zero this time.

Im a sucker for Woot deals…& i had to get 3…why…im not sure…but i justified the purchase cause the shipping was still 5 bucks regardless if i got 1 or 3…ohh well!!!

jay, me too… i already have three network adapters but i ordered two. but it says 300Mbps and mine said 150mbps… higher = better?

Well, Snarkles.

Can a woot admin help me?
I was clicking too fast with my 1337 fingers, and i kept getting my password wrong, i wanted to buy three, but it ended up only buying one. I made an error, i really need to buy three!

Please help.
