Cobra XRS9500 11 Band Radar and Laser Detector

don’t waste your money, get a V1 and call it a day. More $ but its the only one w/ an actual rear radar detector.

This thing is a piece.

goodnight woot.

Aw man!

I jumped on the Early Warning detector from a previous woot, and am very pleased with it… However, I do assume higher $, better detector… hence I am displeased.

But I still don’t get tickets… so I’m not TOO displeased.

beep beep beep beep

don’t sell yourself short like this. its an OK detector for the money but get the Valentine One instead. That thing will pick up anything. 100 times better than anything else out there. nothing comes close.

if you wanna look cool with a radar detector and be lulled into a false sense of security, then go for this one.

Note that these guys are only illegal in Virginia, and only if they’re in your car.

I have mine from the last woot, and I’m considering picking this one up - no complaints about the last one, has saved me from quite a few tickets, and I have some amusing stories to tell friends now. For instance:

Stopped at a red light, the lidar detector goes off. A ‘riced’ civic pulls up next to me, blaring loud music. I get a devilish idea. I put on the biggest stupid grin, look at the guy, and rev my engine. He does the same. The light turns green - he peels out, and I slowly pull away normally. He gets pulled over, and I have to pull over around the corner because I’m laughing so hard I can’t see straight.

At the very least these can tell you about red light cameras…

Can I use this on a motorcycle?

Yeah, right, I’ve owned many a radar detector in my day and while Cobra may be decent for THIS and ONLY THIS price range it cannot even begin to compete with Escot (www.escortradar.com) or Valentine (www.valentine1.com).

If you want to be serious about avoiding your local po-po you have to spend serious. But for your average speeder this might do the trick.

For me, I’ll stick with my Escort Passport x50, saved me from more than a few tickets.

HAHA! yea thats the best!
CITY MODE! lol sounds JDM tight yo…

to bad i spend to much time on here… no chicks tell me to slow down… cause i have none to tell me to!

Wow, we have two kinds of people on here.

1)The people with Valentines and Escorts. Congrats on spending a fortune, I have no doubt that it is worth it. However, not everyone can afford one. This is Woot after all.

2)The know-it-alls who say these things are worthless. I guess they don’t live in a small town or do a significant portion of their driving on non-metropolitan interstates.

For the rest of us, this is a much better deal that the last radar on Woot. Is it the best? No. Personally I’d get on eBay and get a much better Cobra brand detector for not too much money, but hey some folks only trust WOOT!

If you don’t have anything useful to say, why don’t you just shut your mouth? Go ahead, buy the detector and drive across the midwest and watch it pay for itself time and time over.

Last time Woot had a radar detector for sale, this forum had some good, informative articles about these devices from “both sides of the law”. Eventhough I never planned to get one, I learnt something about it. I guess that knowledge might come in handy one of these days…Good night

the post by “awesomeaustin” was by far the most useful i’ve read so far.

Is a windscreen mounting bracket included in price? For that matter, what do you get when you purchase this? Vehicle power adapter? batteries? anything?

We need an alternate woot for Virginian’s today… This woot is useless.

Put your $60 toward a V1. Been happy with mine for the past five years. Literally averaged 3 tickets a year before the V1, including with several flavors of Cobra detectors. Not a single ticket since getting the V1, however. Be smart and don’t throw your money away on this junk – it’s nothing but a false sense of security and all it’ll take is a couple tickets to make up the price difference between this and a real detector (and that’s not including the insurance rate hike when your insurer finds out about those tickets!)

you missed another one: the people who feel it necessary to tell us it’s illegal where they live. We get it. We don’t care. K. Thx.

it’s very good, i had a cobra 6 band, worked amazing, got a cobra 10 band now, works even better than the 6, catches the cop at least a half mile down the road. very very good buy

They are illegal in more areas then stated(Which I do believe has to be on Woot’s Website :slight_smile: ;
Here is what Wikipedia stated for places in the US:
* Illegal in all vehicles(will confiscate): Virginia($25-100 fine), Washington D.C.($300 fine), Carlsbad Caverns National Park
* Illegal in commercial vehicles: Illinois, New York (specifically, commercial vehicles over 10,000 lbs. and all vehicles over 18,000 lbs.)
* Indirectly illegal: Minnesota (illegal to hang anything from the windshield)

HA! That is awesome! I am definitly gonna have to try that one. I picked up the last woot as well and i am very pleased with it. Its the first radar dectector i have had so i dont have much to compare it to… but it does the job. I am assuming more money means better, so this one must be good too.

^^ THAT’S AWESOME!!!

I drive an Escort. Incidentally, I live about 10 miles from a small midwest town and can’t afford to violate probation from my last ticket (it turns out that an Escort actually can go 95). My brother has one very similar to this and works very well.

They ought to be illegal everywhere. If you want to speed, you should do it more responsibly like I do- take your chances.

Does anybody know if the people from Virginia buy this product, will Woot mail it to them?
