Hmmmm…Well…Not sure what I just bought! In for two sets…but did I get two of each or four of one? I hope it’s good stuff WD!

OK, ran a glass through the venturi and warmed it a bit. On the nose, light red fruit with bit of tobacco and new oak. On the palate more red fruit cherry/raspberry and oak. Dry with a bit of tartness. Quite a bit of tannins on the finish, chewy almost, in fact quite a long finish with full mouth feel and lingering berry. I think I just committed infanticide as this wine is probably a bit too young, it needs to be decanted for longer I think to bring out more fruit. Well balanced wine. In for 2!

Well, I’m certainly doing a good job of filling the empty slots in the cellar today! Yikes…the UPS man is gonna love me when these all arrive close together.

After a two hour decant the wine definitely opened up more and the fruit was more noticeable than before. The tannins smoothed a bit more on the finish, but I definitely won’t be opening another bottle for 3-5 more years.

Bought this in the last Wootoff (I think it was towards the end in that one too), but it was one '04 Howell Mountain and one '05 Napa Valley. Haven’t opened either of them yet though. Would be interested in notes if people have them.

The 04 Howell Mountain was one of the best Cabs I have ever tasted!! I enjoyed it all to myself and was quite shocked at how great it was!! A week later I opened the 05 Napa Valley and it was no where near the orchestra of taste was with the Howell Mtn. I am a die hard wine-o and again it was on my top 10 list of all time!!! Cheers!!
