Question. When I see woot designs popping up on Facebook for sale on Etsy, should I report it back here or is it too far gone now? This morning I saw someone shilling the van Gough down by the river matt Foley design. They are selling everything. Shirts, posters, prints, etc. give me some direction please. Just trying to be helpful
Hey @kg07 love your work.
Is this you? or did someone steal your design?
I think that was the listing I saw
That is stolen. I have them taken down from some sites, but for most of them, it is too much effort and takes up too much mental energy. Since woot design contracts are no longer exclusive to woot, it is up to the artist to deal with it (as it should be, they are our designs). You can report them to the artist through the woot forums to let the artist know, but it is not something that I would expect woot to follow up on.
also, thanks for saying you like my stuff. It is always nice to hear.
The only reason I recognized that was stolen is because I own the shirt. It is one of my faves.
Thanks for looking out for me (and owning the shirt). It is one of my favorites as well.
It looks like there is a reporting portal for the artist but you have to register your IP in order to report it as stolen.
yeah- different sites all have differnt rules- sometimes it is pretty straight forward and other times they just ignore you unless you spend a lot of time going through hoops or even contacting the site that is hosting them. It is a losing battle.
Counterfit is the reason i stoped even the idea of selling online. I had one of my works screenshot and they sold it like that lol
They steal everything. I just hope that most of them lose money once time, effort and paying for FB ads is all factored in to the equation.
