Good feedback from some Amazon Users

Crock pots are a great way to have a delicious meal cooking while you are at work (or overnight), and can be economical as slow cooking tends to tenderize cheaper tough cuts of meat.

If you want the BEST corned beef in the world, start with a corned beef in a package. cover with water (use the bag it comes in to pour in the water, to get out all the flavor left behind). Add in the spice packet it comes with. Set it at the lowest COOK setting, and 12 hours later you have the best corned beef - equivalent to a jewish deli in New York City . . .

You’re welcome.

bought, more or less, the same one in red, at sears during black friday for $25…

Lot’s and lot’s of recipes for you.

Winter and crock pots belong together.
Best chili shredded beef ever can be made in these. 8# of cheap beef roasts, custom chili powders from My Spice Sage blended with some cumin, 2 beers, let ‘er rip on low for 12+ hours.
Fork meat apart, add whatever ya’ want for ‘adds’ (beans for us poor folk who sacrifice purity for meal stretching).
Some sharp cheddar and dollop of sour cream…nom nom nom!

I also love corned beef in my crock-pot (I actually have three, different sizes - what the heck), but I use beer instead of water, myself.
Baked beans, chili beans, stew - it all tastes better in a crock-pot, I think, because of the hours the flavors have to meld together at lower heat.

Contemplating getting this to work with my Dorkfood sous vide temperature controller…

7 qt slow cookers are niiiiiiiiiice. They’re like the size of a boat. There’s nothing you can’t cook in them.

Here in the south crock-pot cooking is essential during the summer months.

It’s been awhile since I Wooted…I can’t remember, is there a gift option that will omit the price when shipping? I’m sure gift-wrap is also too much to hope for?!

I have this exact Crockpot. The oval shape is perfect for roasts etc. Pot roast in this is “da bomb”. Just throw in a chuck roast, sprinkle with a packet of dry onion soup mix and let it cook on low all day. You can peel a few potatoes and carrot and toss them in as well if you like, but we prefer using the juices to make gravy and serve the beef with mashed potatoes. For super easy clean use a slow cooker liner.

Me too. Actually- I don’t have the dorkfood yet but considering it. This pot should work fine since it is manual and the best price I have seen on a 7 quart.

I’m still torn between the dorkfood/crock pot combo and the Anova since you can use any vessel and it has a circulation pump.

I’m a little torn, too. And since I already own a digital crockpot, seems silly to also buy a manual one just to use the dorkfood version. Leaning Anova right now. I have large pots which should work with that. Plus, like you say, the circulator helps me justify the price difference.

Aware of Sous-Vide but not these devices, thanks for the tip. What is an adequate vacuum sealer?

You can buy these at walmart for the same price in a range of different colors currently. No shipping.

saw the same one at walmart for the same price. Was hoping for a better deal.

I want this but some Amazon reviews are saying the low setting is too hot to leave unattended. Not worth losing my home over some overheated pot roast
