Who would have thought Craigslist to be such a hotbed for KitchenAid Mixers.
$60 for a new one? Surely not stolen.

I bought this exact mixer for my wife over a month ago.
We chose it over the KitchenAid because it seems that the KA’s just aren’t what they used to be. The motor for this Cuisinart is strong enough to actually make bread dough while the modern KA’s (Artisan and classic) struggle hard.
Anyway… these mixer’s brand new cost $250+ so I don’t think a refurb for $150 is all that bad.
How does one make mashed potatoes in this thing? It doesn’t seem that a single mixing element would be up to the task. Am I mistaken?
Ooooooh, a stand mixer? 8D I’ve been thinking of getting one for a while, this might just be the perfect opportunity.
You can add a SquareTrade warranty if you wish. There’s a link on the item page.
In the manual, there’s a speed guide, and under speed #6 (out of 12), “mashing potatoes” is listed (note that “begin mashing potatoes” is listed under speed #2).
In for 1. Always wanted an upgrade to the entry-level unit I have, but just didn’t see the value in the price on KitchenAid units.
i like the guards on the attachments too. no such thing on my 4qt ka, so sometimes a little extra cleaning.
It actually wasn’t stolen. The guy worked for some company that had it as a display in their lobby. Don’t quite remember what the company did, but they were located in Alhambra. The guy also had several George Foreman grills (one was a different brand) and I bought the biggest, baddest one for $8 and it was also new. At the time, it was on sale at target for $72. It has removable plates and has digital temperature control that you can set, as well as a digital timer. I’m still kicking myself for not buying the camping chairs he had. None of the stuff was in their boxes, but were visibly new.
It would probably be a lot easier to just use a handheld masher, lol. I always cook the potatoes in a pressure cooker, drain, add a good deal of butter, salt, garlic pepper, and some sour cream, if it’s handy. The potatoes are already so soft, that they can even be mashed with fork or spoon. It seems like mashing them in this would just make more unnecessary dishes.
You’re sleeping on the bowl ???
It’s you alright.
Hand whisking a cake batter was why I first bought a Kitchen Aid. Long story short, I gave my KA away and miss it too much but this price is just to good to pass up.
If your lazy and don’t want to kneed dough by hand for the 8 to 12 minutes it takes to build the gluten in it, this is a great hand saver. I’m seriously thinking about it,but the sad fact is I have nowhere to put it.
This might be the place to ask if any of my foodie gear whore compatriots knows the last model Kitchenaid/Hobart made before it sold (out). I also lost the link of the guy that refurbs them. And any opinions thereof would also be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I’m going to have to do that Googling all over again.
Edit: Don’t tell me I has went and killed the thread! C’mon, there was all kinds of interesting esoterica posted relating to the Shun knives. Speak to me, peeps!
King Arthur Flour has a 7 speed Cuisinart mixer, new for $79.99, plus shipping.
That’s a hand mixer in a stand. Not nearly the same thing.
Our KitchenAid 6-qt recently started to strain a bit on full loads (that’s after 19 years of use, so I don’t think it’s a negative comment), so just last week I bought the 7-qt KitchenAid my wife wanted. The Cuisinarts have as good a reputation as the KAs.
nevermind in fer 1
110v only or 110/220?
Anyone concerned this is refurbished? I am not familiar with buying many refurbished products so I want a little reassurance before buying. Thoughts?
Head to Head comparison
I had several KitchenAids for the past 40 years. I switched to Viking (I think they make the Cuisinart)and I love it.
