One thing I can endorse about this coffee maker is that it has a thermal carafe. That means that the coffee does not continue to be “cooked” by a burner under a glass carafe, as is standard. It keeps coffee tasting better, and hot for hours. At least my Mr. Coffee thermal carafe does.
maybe this has been asked and answered before, but does anyone know what happened the little colored box next to our nicks?
I’ve had one for years, works great, easy to clean.
you can get a hideous blue and gold one for the same price on kitchen(.)com
I had this for a few years. Good coffee maker, but kind of hard to clean the pot.
These are FANTASTIC! Like the other person above, we’ve had one for like 4 years and it still runs fine. I have had a few minor problems with it but Cuisinart has always replaced any part for free. It’s not under warranty but they have always done it anyways. You do have to break it down about once a month or more and give it a good cleaning besides just dumping out the old grounds. It builds up a little residue in a certain place which eventually leads to a problem with the grinding or brewing but it’s a quick 3 minute fix by cleaning it. I recommend highly for this price! Ohhh… best way to clean the pot is to fill it with water and add 1/4 of bleach and let it sit overnight.

Came here to say the exact same thing. What next, refurbished underwear?

Not an issue if you practice commando-ism… Oh, W00t! mark this as a QUALITY POST. Thanks
Might be worth saying, stainless steel is a fingerprint magnet. In fact, it can be seen in Woot’s photo. ![]()
It’s definitely worth saying, Woot always puts up great product photos. Thank you very much for that.
I’ve been a loyal wooter for several years now but I think this site jumped the shark several months back. I certainly hope it returns to what made it great.
Will I still be checking the site out at 10 p.m. PST? You betcha, just not with as much glee as before.
get your coffee makers now so you’ll be prepared for the next woot-off
I have the Grind and Brew without the thermal carafe, paid $100 a few years ago at a wholesale club. It makes great coffee and it’s great to be able to put beans in the coffee maker, set the timer and wake up to fresh ground coffee.
HOWEVER, within the last few months it has been flaking out. It turns itself off and the time randomly resets. Sometimes the LCD stays blank until you push on the front panel buttons, then it comes on set to 12:00.
Since it’s out of warranty and I’m a huge electronics geek, I took it apart. There were stress cracks on the timer circuit board - the board HAS NEVER fit in the coffee maker correctly. I tried to fix the broken traces and improved it for a while, but it’s still flaky.
I also know others have had trouble with Cuisinart coffee makers (e.g. blogger James Lileks detailed how he went through about 4 of the “on demand” machines, they kept leaking coffee or dying. He wasn’t the only victim…).
Long story short, beware quality problems with Cuisinart coffee machines.
I have this too. I do recommend it.
Pros: Good coffee, fresh ground beans are better.
Cons: only 10 cups. That’s about 5 mugs so if more than 2 people are drinking then forget it.
Clean up parts in dishwasher often.
I tried many coffee makers and this is worth the extra effort. Also the loud grinder and timer make a great wake up alarm.
How do you refurbish a coffee maker? It’s a gamble not the get the pot that some irate purchaser of a defective coffee maker peed in before returning it.
I have one of these. Makes GREAT coffee, but I would not recommend using the grinder at all for all of the aforementioned reasons: it’s REALLY loud and is a ■■■■■ to clean the muddy remnants. I just make it using preground coffee and press the “Grind off” button. The carafe is fantastic and does keep coffee fresh and hot for hours. My 6a coffee is still somewhat warm when I clean it out after dinner!
We had one of these too. Our’s leaked after awhile. Got a replacement and it started leaking after a short while too.
I’ll be surprised if Utah lights up for this one!

I’ve never understood why people buy programable coffee makers. Is it really that hard to scoop the coffee and pour the water in, in the morning?
[/quote]
What’s so hard to fathom? I wake up, take a shower, hot coffee is waiting.
If you’re buying ground coffee from the store you’re already doing it wrong - one more night sitting isn’t going to make it any worse…
Bought one similar on a very early woot, maybe 2006. The thing is also an alarm clock. When the coffee grinds, if you are sleeping on the couch you will go 3 feet into the air. I thought it made lousy coffee to boot. Ours had a “brew selecter” If you didnt keep it on strong, the coffee was like dishwater.
Agreed
What’s the deal with Woot servers continuing to suck? shirt.woot.com is basically dead. And even these forums can take a reload or two for the server to connect.
oh good i thought it was just my connection causing that problem.
