Cuisinart HB-120PCFR Variable Speed Hand Blender

So this product has enough packages returned to be refurbished and to sell “for seven days or until sold out”. I have to wonder what fresh unexpected adventure/disappointment is being offered to us. At least it’s Cuisinart…

I’m giving it a go since it’s Cuisinart as the price is good. I have a Braun for many years and it still works like new. I try this one and if it functions okay I’ll pass to a granddaughter

I’ve had this for about a year now and have used it maybe eight times and it has worked great, no issues. Used it many times to make homemade tomato soup.

How wide is it at the bottom? Looking for something 2" or smaller?

Well, if bought a “variable speed” hand blender and when I got it home found out it was only 2-speed, that would be enough for ME to take it right back. Might account for the number of units available…

Note that there is no information about it on the main Cuisinart site.

From what I have seen so far, the HB-xxxPC series seems to exclusive to Costco. They tend to use similar base mixer but the model number changes based on what accessories were included.

It’s also corded and that’s not entirely evident unless you’re really paying attention to the last image. I’ve actually been looking for one of these the last couple of days and many are cordless with rechargeable batteries now. Personally, I find more convenience in a corded model, so I’m jumping on this deal.

If you’ve never owned a stick blender this is a great one to start with. I bought this on on Woot a couple of years back and it worked great. Nothing lasts forever so when it broke I chose an upgraded model. Seriously, at $15 this is kind of a no-brainer if you don’t already own one.

Any comment on how it performs and what you used it for?

200 watts seems to be on the low end. I have seen reviews on 300 watt models (HB-900PC) which seemed to indicate it’s only good for pulsing work and required cooldown every few minutes. Is that the case with this 200 watt model?

I have this I bought it a few weeks or months back off of wood for a little bit more. For the 15 bucks it cost it’s not bad. But I probably would not buy it again. The unit is too fast for the whisk and too slow for the blade.

I never had that problem. It’s a little under powered, so making mayonnaise takes 4 minutes instead of 3. I pureed soups right in the pot, which came out smooth enough for me. I never used the whisk because I have a mixer.

I realize this model is technically only designed for blending hands, but could I also use it to make foot-smoothies?

Might not have enough power, if the feet are from hoofed animals.

Is that not variable?

I have a Cuisinart one (not sure if it’s this exact model), but I’ve used it on a bunch of soups (tomato soup, potato leek soup, cauliflower soup, etc) and been happy with it.

I’ve never used the whisk attachment.

Mine does not turn on.
I tried it through many outlets that other appliances work in.
It simply isn’t working I need to return it.
