CyberPower 1500VA/900W PFC Sinewave UPS

So does this package include software that interacts with the computer to tell it that it needs to shut down? How does this work?

I have the 1350VA/810W PFC units. It uses an app called “PowerPanel Personal Edition” that actively links via USB to the unit and then keeps the computer up to date on power remaining and based on your settings will shutdown the system

These are $200 new. Not a bad deal. I use two of these to run network equipment and they usually keep running way past their ratings, unlike the APC junk.

How do they determine if a battery needs to be replaced on a refurb? The fact that it works today doesn’t tell me how long the battery will continue to work. Buying “refurbished” rechargeable batteries seems like Russian roulette.

Factory reconditioned means they’ve been tested and refurbished if necessary to meet certain requirements or standards.
How do you know the gas you put in your car isn’t half water?
How do you know the ‘day old’ bread you bought at the bakery isn’t two days old?
How do you know the cook didn’t spit in your hamburger you had for lunch today?
Life’s a gamble. Russian roulette.

When I’m on my portable backup generator my heating system won’t work (not a total/surge KW issue, the generator is huge)due to dirty power. Would this thing condition the power to within tolerances for a gas/propane house system?

While this does likely have a noise suppressing circuit it probably isn’t designed to handle the kind of noise you’re talking about. For that you would need an isolation transformer or power conditioning unit. It’s a good idea to use one anywhere you have expensive and sensitive electronic equipment. I use one on my networking setup.

My APC UPS won’t charge when using my generator. It considers the incoming power so un-stable that it just stays active (and discharging).

I bought one of these NEW at Amazon last November during their Black Friday sale for the same price.

I bot three of the CyberPower CST135XLU-R UPS System PC Battery Backup 1350 VA / 810 W refurbished on Woot last December (1350VA w simulated sine wave) for $79.99 each.

All of these units are working fine.

I have a plethora of mostly Cyberpower UPS units hooked up all around the house. I get a fair amount of power blips and outages lasting 10 to 15 minutes and these keep all of my TVs, routers, Phillips Hue lights and computers going.

Shore answer. No. since we don’t know how much power your system pulls. Just like those car inverters, they will only give out so much power before they freak out. These will do the same.

Long answer. How many watts does your system pull? It’s the initial startup that might be the problem. They are not designed to serve the purpose you want. At least not these. They make some with way more wattages but you are looking at over 1k in costs. But if this is the only device you are going to use, I’d first connect it to a PC, adjust the power settings so the UPS knows it’s going to get dirty power (3 settings, high/med/low). I set all my ups’s to low so they don’t bounce back and forth between battery and normal power. But The 900watt might be ok if that’s the ONLY thing you have on your system. I assume this is for a house? I’ve seen where 1.5kw gensets will run a furnace fine. So, if anything, you get a nice UPS for your PC, but just don’t forget to set the power tolerance to LOW or it will end up frying your unit.

You need to reset the sensitivity setting in the PowerChute software from High or Medium to Low. Also, the sensitivity of some APC units can be set to Low using the control pad on the front of the UPC without need of the PowerChute software.

Bought two of these in this sale. One completely shuts itself off at random anywhere from 2 to 20 minutes even on AC power no matter what the load, and the other has defective load sensing…it always reads “0 watts”, etc. regardless of load.

Some “reconditioning”.

Already done. Still not terribly happy about the shoddy refurb work though.
