Anyone have experience with the
Hisense brand? Need a cheap TV for the bedroom and 40 inches and four hdmi ports for only $219 seems to good to pass up.
Some things I feel can be refurbished, TV’s do not have a great track record.
I bought a Sceptre (I know not a name brand) it is a 40" 1080 for under 300 dollars… BRAND NEW. It looks better than my dads 2 year old Vizio 42" 1080… by a long shot.
Refurbished is good for computing (I have had good luck) and simple devices, but TV’s… for some reason. Just doesn’t work.
I bought a 32" model Hisense from Frys a few years back for the bedroom. After a month I put my 24" Toshiba back in the bedroom. The Hisense picture was absolutely horrid.
PERSONALLY, I bought a refurb 40" Hisense from woot almost a year and a half ago. I was sketch, but the price was good and I pulled the trigger. I have the same TV in my living room right now. I haven’t had any trouble with it. I have a Roku 3, DVD player (I konw), and HD cable box all hooked up, and I’ve used it as a larger display for my laptop on occasion.
My ONE tiny gripe, and this is tiny because it doesn’t have any bearing on the picture or sound, is that I can see a little bit of light leakage in the bottom corners, but only when there’s black screen. It’s 100% unnoticeable when a picture covers that area of the screen.
REFURBS! Love 'em or hate 'em. Mostly I’ve had good luck with them. HOWEVER, Woot recently offered refurb BIG Jawbone Jamboxes (they’re on offer again this weekend). These were NOT refurbed by Jawbone. Mine arrived with a couple of serious dings on the front grille (top AND bottom). I informed Woot - their response was STONY SILENCE. I am REALLY surprised that they’re offering these again. If the refurber can’t be bothered to fix obvious cosmetic problems you have to wonder what (i anything) they’ve done to the internals. CAVEAT EMPTOR.
Would also like to throw in that she called Square Trade to ask them if they could apply a coupon code to the warranty for the TVs and they told her that they don’t warranty refurb items. I told her to call back and tell them it was through woot, with the widget (which they DO cover) and they essentially told her she was full of it. So uh, ST reps missed out on 2 warranties and a new customer. smh
6 HDMI cables, a UPS for power bricks, 4 Cat 5 cables, an HDMI Switch and 3 hours later…I have the Hisense TV, Wii, BluRay, 7.1 Stereo, Roku 3, PS2, Cable DVR, and XBox all working like a champ.
I can get the Hisense for the same price and Free shipping at sears. Common Woot, yours supposed to have the best deals, otherwise what’s the point of shopping your website!
Well after reading the feedback I’m going to buy straight from Vizio. They have a 39", with only 2 HDMI though, for $309 new. The other two TV’s in my house are Vizio and I they’ve been rock solid for years now.
