Time to check out the product page for the PIPCAM5

Horrible quality product. Image quality is terrible. Product is not worth the price. I bought three last time and they all had differing quality. Wonderful idea but poor execution. I returned all. Woot was wonderful throughout the process though.

Which one did you get?

Five-Star Reviews on PIPCAM8 over at Amazon

I’ve been meaning to keep better tabs on my dog… But need a little push, anyone have anything to say about the pipcam8?

Reviews are from people who bought them from woot in the last 2 weeks?

I ordered a pipcam5 to keep tabs on my dog during the day. Only issue I have is with the flashing light that will not stop blinking. It’s annoying as hell when I’m home, otherwise everything functions as expected. Easy to set up and viewable remotely using the app.

I see someone made note of the 5 star reviews on Amozon. They just did not mention the fact their were only a total of “2 REVIEWS” on the product. In the business that person is referred to as a “SHILL”.

This should be a red flag in itself.

Re: Amazon reviewers

Non verified owners with reviews left specifically for Woot shoppers…

Also don’t like how they are regular $129 on Amazon with an inflated price on Woot to make the deal look better.

“It’s a Trap!”

The PIPCAM8 is the same generic camera that X10 sells as the indoor XX59A Airsight Indoor

I have 2 of the X10 versions and one of them works perfectly, the other has issues (was a refurb).

The working one gives a much better picture than the non-HD versions, but quality of the video is not really HD, just the size.

In any case, I think I’m in for 2 more…

These look to be rebadged foscams. I would spend the extra money to get actual foscams.

I’m in for three of the HD cameras. We installed stationary IP cameras to keep an eye on Mom and have been looking for good pan/tilt cameras. These IP cameras are great if you have a senior relative that you need to look in on in for their safety and your own piece of mind.

So? They’re legit customers. WE COUNT TOO!!!

If you use American Express, VISA or other with warranty and buyer protection (theft, no return protection, breakage, etc.) this is a no risk buy. We use DropCam and this would get us out from under the $99 a year fee.

They also look a lot like the ones used on Bar Rescue.

I’m interested in the Samsung security camera sets that show up on Woot all the time, but only need 2 or 3 cameras to start with, and I don’t want to mess with running wires, so these Pyle cameras are appealing.

I don’t really care about live viewing on my tablet as much as I want to have the video digitally recorded on my PC, with the motion detection and alert features of the dedicated/wired security camera setups.

I got two of the pipcam5s last time they were on woot. You can turn off the blinking light in the settings while viewing the camera through a desktop browser, but not in the app (system->Indicator Settings->Indicator Mode:Always off).

I’m not thrilled with them - color accuracy is poor, and they feel cheap (I also have a Foscam FI8910W from woot), but I paid less, they work for my needs, and weren’t terrible to set up.

The audio only works in the IE browser for me. In the app (included Pyle app as well as tinyCam Monitor FREE, which I prefer) the sound is an unbearable screeching. Sound from my Foscam works in tinyCam Monitor. I’ve reached out to Pyle customer service, and have a ticket open with them. They were initially very responsive to the ticket, but I haven’t heard anything in over 15 days now.

I don’t think these are rebranded Foscams. The manufacturer you use to set up the camera in tinyCam is Apexis (as in this youtube instructional video), whereas I just use Foscam to set up my Foscam.

I’m staying out of this. Woot was kind enough to refund my money after the headaches I had with all three units.
Pyle however did not offer any help after numerous requests until after I ripped them apart in a review. Then I must say they called my house everyday for several days.
I will say WHEN the cameras did work they were OK for them money.
