Is the stand detachable?

What are the dimensions of the screen without the stand?

Note to future commenters: Stop complaining about resolution… this monitor is obviously not for you and your pixel superiority complex.

It is a big monitor for a low-ish price and if you want a Mega-Sonic Teenage Nerd Monitor then go buy one somewhere else… Yeah, we all know it’s actually Negasonic.

“pixel superiority complex”??? Good grief. 1080p / 24" is pretty much a de facto standard. If you have a bigger monitor than 24", most (certainly not all, but most) people expect it to be a higher resolution than 1080p.

For a typical user, this monitor just isn’t going to be that useful.

That isn’t to say it isn’t useful to anyone. For example, my mom’s eyesight is poor and I bought her a larger-than-normal 1080p monitor and it works well for her. You could also use it if you are doing presentations on it and people are standing further away than a typical computer user would be.

But if you are looking for a monitor for your home or office computer for a typical user, you’re probably going to expect something of this size to be more than 1080p.

Is VESA compatible so I’m assuming the stand can be removed.

Found this via the Googles Says 16.93".

Yes definitely Negasonic

The stand is definitely detachable and I ordered this monitor recently from Woot! I returned it. The lack of an audio out is a serious design flaw! There is not even a headphone jack!

There’s no speakers, therefore no need for a headphone jack.

HaHa, nice one. You didn’t think that would go unchallenged did you?

You really think you can speak for other don’t you?
Kind of disappointing that even here there are always superior people ready to tell you what to think.

Actually I’m luvin’ it

Now, now, now. Let’s play nice.

I purchased this back on May 8th. It’s been a godsend no eye strain at the end of the day!

Sorry, TT, but this sale has tapped into an Internet flame war of the worst kind. One that surpasses even some of the most famous for its ferocity and vicious attacks. Flame wars like:

Star Wars vs. Star Trek
Mac vs. PC
Intel vs. AMD
Coke vs. Pepsi
wood vs. propane BBQ pits
Ford vs. Chevy
plastic bags vs. paper bags
Unicorn Twilight vs. Alicorn Twilight

I’m sorry, but this fiery debate could easily tear apart the very fabric of cyberspace and the rules of civility as we know it. Pray your basement is fully stocked.

I’m a typical user and I find this monitor to meet my needs and then some. If fact, this monitor would be great on my desk in my home office or as an HTPC monitor in the kitchen so I can follow along with cooking show hosts without needing to leave the stove or squint across the room.

Sorry, but you don’t speak for anyone except yourself.

I bought this three weeks ago.

On Friday, there was a sudden back lighting failure in a section that covered about 10% of the display. Thankfully, it was still in the 90-day Dell warranty period and I received my replacement today.

Still not as spicy as that post-election T-Shirt thread.
