Dell Latitude 14.1" Intel Core i5 Laptop

Mine was not backlit when I purchased in Nov 2014.

Can anyone tell me if this is a Dell FACTORY refurb or 3rd party (mystery) refurb?

Sounds about right. I got this RAM from newegg in mine. $135ish.

Was a 3rd party refurb for mine.

My favorite: EaseUS Partition Master Free Edition

Or, Clonezilla or Parted magic (no free) . If all you want to do is clone your disk and use ALL of your new disk, EaseUS is best. Is has the SSD feature to move your OS. And the above are FREE.

Google can be your friend when you need to figure out what you want to do.

XP is still on borrowed time (life support). I doubt MS will turn it’s back on Win7 in the next few years. TOO many companies, colleges, etc… refuse to go to Win8.

Like quite a few others I got this deal in November as well. The laptop is great. We use the Latitude 5xxx and 6xxx series at work and they’re outstanding. The laptop I received came with a 9 cell battery which was great and a generic/third-party ungrounded A/C cord which wasn’t as great.

Mine does have an issue with the screen going black when unplugging from A/C power though. I just sent in a request for a replacement to Woot. Otherwise, cosmetically and functionally it was great.

I got one back in November (3 Year Warranty!!) No issues at all & it is in great shape.

Thanks for the info!

Yes the best part about the Nov offering was 3 year warranty

Question(s): Since I want to upgrade to (at least) 8GB memory, does it come with two 2GB sticks? So does that mean that I need to buy two 4GB sticks (or two 8GB if I want to push it)?
Does anyone know the exact specification (or maybe a link to a Newegg item) of memory that would work?
I’ll admit that memory configurations throw me for a loop :frowning:
Thanks!!

Yes it comes with two SO-DIMMs of 2GB each so you will have to buy an 8GB kit (2x4GB). Should be about $60ish.

Here is what I put in mine Gskill 16GB:

Here’s the 8GB (4GBx2) kit I bought from Amazon:

I know it’s too late now, but the unit I got in November does have a backlit keyboard.

Interesting Product Information.
