@ThunderThighs
Are these business lease returns that could potentially have seen 2-3 years of usage? I7 + Pro license, for such a low price - Whatâs the âFULL DISCLOSUREâ line that I am not seeing in the item condition description
Serious buyer here
Oh BTW - The Dell Latitude 5480 was launched in early 2017
Unsupported Windows 11 installation
Dell Latitude 5480 13.9" FHD I7-6600U Laptop
Features
- Windows 11 Pro
- Intel Core i7-6600u
âThe Intel Core i7-6600U as a 6th-generation processor is not officially supported for Windows 11, as Microsoft requires 8th-gen or newer Intel processors. Risks: Using unsupported hardware may prevent receiving security patches, and functionality is not guaranteed.â
The âcatchâ is that the i7 in this is a dual-core processor that came out a decade ago. While still usable, its performance would be more comparable to a mobile phone. And Iâm not talking about a high-end phone. Or even mid-range. Nope, the performance is comparable to a phone in this price class.
The current sub-$200 Samsung is the A17, but it uses the same processor as last yearâs A16. Itâs not fast â and I should know because my current phone is the A17 that I bought a couple months ago.
(Note that I am not staff. I just volunteer to help out on the forums.)
Weâre seeing more and more of these not officially supported for Windows 11 devices with Windows 11 loaded being sold by resellers; few with disclosures of same. I venture to guess that the average consumers buying these devices are not aware of this fact. The rest donât care.
Yep. Itâs sometimes mentioned in the listings here at Woot, but itâs still not always mentioned.
Granted, as long as folks donât do a simple search on how to install W11 themselves or even do an update-in-place, theyâll end up falling prey to these usable-but-not-really computers.
We donât have information on the past life of refurbished items we sell. Sorry.
