Edited to add this to the top, but I’m well aware how much this sounds like an ad. I promise I’m an actual human person who just enjoys coffee and will answer your questions.
This is a fantastic price for the machine. De’Longhi is legit one of the best automated presses out there. I upgraded from an ancient De’Longhi and was very happy.
I didn’t expect to appreciate the hot milk carafe and the cold milk carafe as much as I do. It does a decent flat white and what I would call a passable latte macchiato. The cold brew won me over. I’m a little sad it is getting cold because I want more of the iced coffees.
I will say that the Wi-Fi connectivity is a gimmick at best and doesn’t work at all most of the time. You end up swapping out components enough that it doesn’t make sense to try to do this remotely.
It is significantly quieter than the ancestors from even 5 years ago. Heeding the water grinding the beans, cleaning the spouts… All of that is much quieter now.
One last thing, I’m concerned that the reliance on connectivity and digital assets will make it more difficult to fix. The old version I had required regular maintenance which was like working in a garage with a car. I cleaned it and fixed fraying wires and bad connections and it’s still going a decade plus later. This thing is essentially on a single microchip that if it fries will be an entire replacement of the motherboard and probably 9/10 the price of the full version.
Final words. It’s much better than Keurig. Like by a lot if you’ve never experienced the difference. Oddly, it might not be better than drip Folgers if that is the mood you’re in. You will likely not get better chilled options at home.
