We have one of these, and as far as heating goes, it works pretty well. We have central heating, but have a bedroom that still gets pretty cold. This supplements the central heating very well. We’ve used the oil-filled heaters before this, and I have to say this does a better job of keeping a large bedroom warm, with less impact on our electrical bill.
The one downside is the built-in thermostat doesn’t work worth crap; the temperature swing between on and off is at least 15 degrees. If you need to maintain a narrower temperature range you’ll need to control it with a good plug thermostat.
