Derby #135 CyberPub: On Roids!

Derby #135: Faster, Higher, Stronger

Commercialism and cheating and poorly-designed venues aside, those three words are supposed to be what the hulaballoo in Vancouver is all about. Striving for perfection. Friendly competition. Pushing the limits of what human beings (or aliens, or whatever) are capable of. At their best, the Olympics embody those ideals. So take those three simple words as inspiration for your design this week, even if the real Olympics aren’t always so pure of heart.

We are not looking for Olympic-themed shirts. Please don’t use the five rings, Olympic mascots, or any other specifically Olympic imagery in your shirt. The Olympic motto should be the jumping-off point for your design, not the final destination.

Wonder if I cartooned a stick figure doing this:

Buy it, use it, break it, fix it,
Trash it, change it, mail - upgrade it,
Charge it, point it, zoom it, press it,
Snap it, work it, quick - erase it,
Write it, cut it, paste it, save it,
Load it, check it, quick - rewrite it,
Plug it, play it, burn it, rip it,
Drag and drop it, zip - unzip it,
Lock it, fill it, call it, find it,
View it, code it, jam - unlock it,
Surf it, scroll it, pause it, click it,
Cross it, crack it, switch - update it,
Name it, rate it, tune it, print it,
Scan it, send it, fax - rename it,
Touch it, bring it, Pay it, watch it,
Turn it, leave it, start - format it.

If that would work… since everyone’s quoting Daft Punk…

that is a whole lotta activity there. makes me tired just thinking about drawing all that.

Yay cyberpub! Yay Skektek for handling cyberpub!

(no1, see trying to be encouraging!)

Here’s what I’ve been working on. I had a dozen concepts and most just weren’t going in a way liked… this is what I actually kinda like so far… any thoughts? I’m thinking the moon doesn’t look moonlike enough, but not sure how to fix that…

Faster, Higher, Stronger is what’s also printed on the 100,000 condoms available to the athletes. //snicker//

jas - I totally see the moon.

LOL also!

Thanks Kt. Sometimes it’s hard to tell how others will see it.

Working on another idea as well… could you use some color help… kelly green shirt or blue? Thanks!
Fun fact: Elephants can’t can’t jump!

Just a joke. It’s not really on topic and yes, takes a lot of time I don’t have.

Thanks, Jas. I’ve had an up and down week. This was an up moment.

I had a similar idea. But back to the moon, I’d redo the large crater on top. With your drawing style, I’d keep the moon craters little swirlies. Maybe a little less dark…

Hope your week keeps going up!

Thanks, that was good advice. I like the moon better with the swirlies - thoughts?

Also, I realized some other colors have a neat look too… anyone have a shirt color preference? Baby Blue, royal (medium) blue, navy (dark) blue and heather gray.

Jas, I still like navy the best.

Here’s mine- suggestions?

Thanks skek.

Cute! The moon looks a bit too dark to me… maybe use some lighter grays as well? OR reverse the white and dark gray as far as quantity goes?

Thanks, Jas. Updated the image above. I like this version better! Time for bed…
