Derby #381: Aprons

Big changes! Double derby action, more time to design shirts (which also means better subs). Sounds good to me.

Hey, you’re scaring away the primates. You made my apron.

  1. Any chance we can get the .AI file formatted in an older version of Illustrator?
  2. Is the print area (if I’m seeing it right on the .psd template) 8.5" x 10.5" at 300 dpi?

Any other tech specs you can share?

Woot’s always got another surprise around the corner. I am excited to see the future of the derby! Group hug.

The Terms and Conditions linked here talks about a compensation of $200 + $2 for the winning designs. Is this the new (hopefully not) standard? Or is it just for the second derby? Please explain. We are a little scared with this…

Can we use the same design in both the specialty derby and the Tee derby?

We haven’t changed the payments on the standard derby. The T&C’s will change depending on the derby that’s running at the time. So in this apron derby the winners get $200. When it’s a standard derby the normal T&Cs will go up.

Questions:

  1. So, the normal derby will only have 3 days of voting?

  2. The winners will be announced Monday of the following week? 10 days after it started?

  3. Will the winners be selected as first, second and third?

  4. Are they going to receive the same $1K?

  5. Does the new $200 commission applies to the 2nd derby only?

Concerns:

  1. If the normal derby lasts only 3 days, it’ll be easier for people with alternate/fake account to win… Do you remember those with “Play Fair” issues? We all know, and we know Woot knows. There, I said it…

  2. If the winners of the normal derby are announced on the Monday after, it means that they’ll have to share the exposition. No more front page feature for those winners.

  3. If compensation drops… hope people stay and participate…

I think the winners of the “new” derby are to be sold as a side sale along with the HM’s from the “old” derby.

So, which one is the standard derby now? #381 or #382? The one that starts on Mondays? If so. I like that idea, I’ll have time to work on weekends. it’s better than going to bed at 3am every Friday…

382 is the standard – starts late but same prizes and print dates. 381 is the one that starts tomorrow and has a smaller payout.

[This helped me to understand, hope it helps…

Edit: Updated the chart

Oh is that what we’re doing now? Designing visual aids for forums? You’ll get no payout for that, mister.

I do think this is a genuine concern. Hopefully the staff will be keeping the derby under observation for any signs of foul play.

I MADE ONE TOO!
We get 2 bucks every time someone looks at this, right woot?

I don’t know behind the scenes, but I would love to see a chart with voting speed for the week, per day. Maybe the bulk of the voting takes place between friday and monday, now?

All of my apron ideas could easily work for the baked goods derby too! What a conundrum!

Thus, I asked if we could use the designs for both. Figured it would be best to get this clarified.

Trav sayz you can use the same for both, but he reserves the right to start rejecting if you just keep using the same design in all the derbies.
