Derby #67: Video Games Through Art History

how to get my Sepherof in the style of Andres Serrano past the veto machine.

frogger in Egyptian Hieroglyphs?? i think so…

this is going to be so frickin’ awesome! If the South VS. East shirt by fablefire doesn’t print, maybe this derby will make up for it. please oh please be awesome!!

Hoo boy, byrbwr is gonna love this! >: )

That was my first thought… it’s as if they picked this just to spite him.

Awesome.

I really can’t wait to see some of the work for this though.

Nice theme! I see some of the photochoppers getting in on this fun…

But I’m sure we’ll see a cubist version of Tetris… guaranteed. I call Mondrian Tetris!!!

Well, you have a leg up on the rest of us since you’ve been submitting artwork-based shirts for some time…

O

I’m thinking Portal as Pop Art. Who doesn’t love the Companion Cube?

i dont know why you would make text restrictions you clearly wont follow.
and does this now negate the pac man and portal refrence rules?
oh wait thats right! “rules” BWAHAHAHAHAHA this is woot, nevermind.

Keep in mind, the concept of video games as opposed to specific titles is a great way to avoid copyright issues.

Do you mean Sephiroth?

Far from done, but this was the 1st idea that popped into my head.

Title: Arcade Box in the style of Sculpture

The rules are a bit vague to me, lemme know if I’m wrong or missing the point.
Critiques welcomed.

You should do Mondrian Lightcycles.

Piss Sephiroth?

HAHAHA WOW THIS DERBY IS GOING TO BE SO GOOD!

But then again all the REAL GOOD designs will never win anyways, so heres to disappointment!

him too

Copyright question:

If I were to, say, draw Samus in an impressionistic style, isn’t that still a copyright violation? Intellectual property law covers the character itself, not just particular drawings of it, right?

dang it skek, I just spent the past 1.5 hrs on Tetris de stijl:

That’s what I get for going with an obvious (easy) idea.

Actually mine looks diferent due to a different look to the cubes, and they’re bigger, so I say submit yours too and let the wooters decide…

I’m also sketching out an ode to the Atari 2600 I still have and play from time to time.

Thanks for then nod on 1986. ;D
