Derby #160: The End of the World

People love to see a good catastrophe. Every summer a movie like Independence Day or 2012 or Glitter hits the theaters affirming that fact. In fact just about every religion, cult, and tribal group as their own mythology as to how everything’s going to end. Put five or six people together for a couple of hours and they’re going to start wondering how they’re all going to die; at least that’s what usually goes on at the water cooler here. So for this week’s Derby theme, show us how it’s going to go down. Plague? Zombies? The heat death of the universe? Rampaging murderous jellyfish? Give us your best take on the end of it all, but try to be more original than just “here’s a nuclear explosion.”

Of course in any disaster your odds of survival increase if you can remain calm and keep a clear head, so try to remember these rules:

No video games.

No text.

No kittens, bunnies, or penguins. It’s the Apocalypse, okay?

No fate but what we make. A totally ran

maybe I ought to enter the derby again. This one could actually be fun if I had time.

yay!

maybe not though.

boooooooooooooooooo!

hmm… amazon did something good when it moved those servers from St. Louis. MUST NOT ABUSE ACCESS.

that’s what she said!

apropos of nothing:

health.com depressing careers - Artists, entertainers, writers

These jobs can bring irregular paychecks, uncertain hours, and isolation.

Creative people may also have higher rates of mood disorders; about 9% reported an episode of major depression in the previous year.

In men, it’s the job category most likely to be associated with an episode of major depression (nearly 7% in full-time workers).

“One thing I see a lot in entertainers and artists is bipolar illness,” says Legge. “There could be undiagnosed or untreated mood disorders in people who are artistic…. Depression is not uncommon to those who are drawn to work in the arts, and then the lifestyle contributes to it.”

Why are you bumping old threads???

STOP IT!

If Joe sent you a shirt, I can get your address!!!

HA! I didn’t notice that the first time!

How hard could it be for the woot coders to include the original post date on the thread headings page so we know the age of a thread without clicking into it?
