Derby entry comments for Derby #30: Leap Year

Comments for individual derby entries are placed in this thread.

This is a visual representation of Feb 29th, 2008. The 29th is represented by the red spoke among 28 black spoke. 2008 is found in the 2, gears, and 8 behind the F for February. A bit abstract, but has the benefit of being wearable at other times of the year.

These Leapsters Don’t Care about the Leap Year…why should I? Please vote for these cute apathetic (yet poisonous) frogs.

This is the Mayan Calendar symbol for February 29, 2008

Count the kitties!

Cute! As my sig shows, I’m a sucker for cat shirts. GMV!

By the way this is intended as a parody of that Rent song being wrong one fourth of the time.

Thirty days hath September,
April, June and November;
All the rest have thirty-one
Save February, she alone
Hath eight days and a score
Til leap year gives her one day more.

The words wrapped around the back of the design are the last three lines of the poem. The design is romantic, flirty and contemporary in an effot to pay tribute to the idea that on Leap Day women can propose marriage. (Believed to have originated in 5th century Ireland between St. Bridget and St. Patrick…or so I’ve been told.)

The design contains wedding rings below the dove and the floral components are adornments are placed in a way to mimic a corsage or wedding bouquet to identify the historical significance of Leap Day being on the day on which women could propose to men for marriage.

I like it! Nice choice of colors, kls…

I want what he is having!

All votes will be appreciated!

Wow, crazy color! I’ll have some of that, too!

Come on Earth! Pick up the Pace! We’ve been told that the earth takes 365 days to revolve around the sun, but it actually takes about 365.25 days. Thus, the need for the extra day every 4 years. Here’s my tribute to the earth/sun relationship and the slacker earth that just can’t make the 365 record time!

It says “LEAP” and “YEAR” at the same time, with the bonus of 1 in 4 letters being higher.

This shirt rocks.

Druid Leap Year - Please Vote!

I wish the 29 was smaller, and directly underneath the right hand side of the word. I think it looks kind of dumb being so large, especially with the text on an angle.

Frisbee Dog, Leaping Champion. With Bandanna 229 to indicate the relevance to the February Leap Day. Go on entry # 229. You can do it! Identifies the Leap Day, but in a design that can be worn year round … and especially on the weekends when you do frisbee with your furry friend!

Funny idea. RIP February 30th.

Since I don’t think my last description/suggestion made much sense, here’s the closest example I could find via a 10 second Google search :
