Derby entry comments for Derby #377: $10K Cup Round III: Art Styles

Comments for individual derby entries are placed in this thread.

I finally gave in and did a Game of Thrones design…

One taco plus two tacos equals six tacos!

All spiffed up and ready to go!

Featuring, Knights in White Plastic!

Groovy.

Hope you think my psychedelic entry is groovy this week.

Reference Spoiler

Psychedelia, based on the style of underground comix artists.

You are soooooooooo good looking!

Complementary colors!

second time in the derby, hope you all like! I will never use pointillism again. :K

This is absolutely brilliant.

One of Seurat’s pointillist paintings is of the Eiffel Tower.

I thought I’d imitate that painting, but instead of dots, I’d make it out of blocks—Tetris blocks—which themselves are made of dots. Though I used guides and repeated basic patterns, I placed every dot individually.

I’ve titled it “Not Playing to Win,” since creating such a configuration in Tetris (if one were fortunate enough to get the right pieces and know where to place them) would quickly lead to the loss of the game. Still, I imagine it would be worth it and that reflects my attitude about the designs I create for the derby.

Wood Cut style.
I hope everyone enjoys it, both near and far.

In the middle of making this one, I started to think it wouldn’t work, but I’m really proud of how it turned out. Working with negative space was fun. Hope you like it, and please vote.

Wow, this looks great on the shirt. Fantastic work!

Which art style is this? It doesn’t look like woodcut art, but that’s all I can come up with. And you can’t put extra stuff in your thumbnail (Click me)

No PS filters were harmed during the design process

Complimentary colors trying to eat each other

A woodcut style, trying to incorporate Native American style/elements, as well.

Hope you like it!
