This was a public domain photograph taken by NASA. I adjusted the levels in photoshop then Livetraced it in Illustrator. It took like 2 minutes.
Is he on vacation? Or just hunting ninjas in South Beach? Either way- shorts, scooters, shuttlecocks, strawberry ice-cream, Sansas, and only an occasional shuriken = one awesome Summer.
One of my favorite things about summer is the awesome fruit that comes into season - strawberries being a favorite. Strawberries are dangerous though. The seeds can get stuck in your gums like a ninja star in the face. They’re also really messy, and when you get in a strawberry fight, it looks like blood. =)
Some people like penguins…some like trees… I like anthropomorphic, brightly colored fruit.

Nothing said summer to me when I was a kid like Bomb Pops fresh off the ice cream truck. Complete with the sticky hands that came along with it. Mmmmmmm. On navy. Enjoy!
The ice cream truck comes around every summer, and makes all the little monsters happy. Six colours on royal, and I’d be happy to post more detailed images if anyone wants them.

Suburban Blitzkrieg
Summer is often sunny and mind-numbingly hot, but the season also has plenty of rain. In this pleasant scene, Turtle and Turtle Jr. are going for a midnight walk in the rain. Turtle doesn’t want to get wet, but Jr. really loves the rain.
And you know how sun showers are so beautiful? Star showers are too, and they happen frequently in Turtle Land. Did you know that Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” is actually a fair representation of the night sky in Turtle Land? Yup. And of course, stargazing is a common summer pastime.
Being Canadian, rain is more summery. It’s still snowing in the spring.

After spending the Spring with her over-bearing mother, Persephone is finally free to spend the Summer her way. And what better way than to frolic in the Summer breeze and sunshine. Meanwhile, lonely Hades is on his Underworld throne holding onto the memories of his absent bride and waiting her return.
