Except those times I make exceptions. \*This Derby begins **MONDAY October 5th at**** 8pm, CST. **& ends** MONDAY October 12th at ****8pm, CST.** _The three winning designs will be featured as the Daily offers Tuesday-Thursday. Great designs that don’t win may be included in an Editor’s Choice sale on Friday, so be sure to check back and see who makes the cut!_ Please be sure to have your artwork ready to submit with your entry as part of the new submission process! Pure sci-fi would need to be based on something possible, following known laws of physics, or giving good explanation on how they have been changed. The point is that pure sci-fi is a slim genre, most has a flare of fantasy. ---

Couple of mine are not subbing for some reason…really weird. One on Heather Gray and the other on Brown…the other designs subbed just fine though, and I used the same formatting for the files on all of them. Help?!? ---

I completely goofed and spelled Wookiee wrong in my submissions. I sent revisions to Kate to hopefully fix. Don’t wanna lose the votes but also don’t want to be losing out on votes because people are upset I spelled it wrong. ---

Thanks… I love to read about different perspectives like that, I think it keeps us all more mentally agile when it comes to designing, and not just blindly falling into all the old tropes. ---

Absolutely! Totally a hobby for me (luckily, considering… 4 shirts picked in my history) so I appreciate the challenge, but I would love to see strict rules every couple of months or so, though. It seems most weeks if it is barely, tangentially, perhaps by some strange connection somewhat related to something that comes close to the topic it gets accepted. I understand doing it every week would about ruin the derby, but… ---

They really made designers work for it. We only had 24 hours between the theme announcement and the derby start. And yet, we got REALLY great art and the votes were over 2000, on a regular basis. ---

My oldest t-shirt bought is from a long time ago, but in terms of designing I submitted a few designs here and there a few years back, but really got back into it this year after finally getting some digital drawing tools, so I am not super familiar with how the rules worked before. I always hate marginalizing anybody, but a few times myself I’ve kinda said “well, this is not totally on topic, but somewhat close enough.” That’s why I was thinking perhaps having one strict one every couple of months or so may really get our juices flowing. Now, as a person working 2 jobs and with a two-year old at home… 1 day to think, design, and prepare the files?! Yikes! New mad respect for all of you all long timers.
