Got my Dewalt DCF921P2 impact wrench kit today. The Woot description states it is being sold as new, but the kit I received is from late 2021 and looked like it had probably been returned to the seller at some point. The box had a large section cut off with a razor knife. There was no packaging or instruction manual. The two 5 ah XR batteries are 4 years old and won’t charge. The impact wrench itself appears to work properly and I need to use it for another project, so I will use another battery I already have. My hope is Woot will exchange the batteries for newer good ones.
I have never had a problem buying from Woot before this, so we will see how they handle this situation.
That’s a shame. It is almost certainly a prior return with the old shipping label removed. In a prior life working in shipping and receiving, we did that all of the time to reuse boxes.
Unfortunately, it’s probably improbable that Woot can/will replace just the the batteries. It’s probably more likely that they offer a partial refund or offer to take the entire kit back on a full refund.
Good luck, hopefully Woot customer service will provide you with a satisfactory resolution.
It’s been a couple days since I reached out to Woot for help resolving this and they haven’t responded to my email, called, or responded to this post. A little disappointed in the lack of response.
Also curious to hear if anyone else purchased the Dewalt DCF921P2 and to learn if they also have the same issues I have.
Customer service doesn’t monitor the forums at all, and neither does staff on the weekends.
CS will respond in 48-72 hours to the email linked to your woot account. You’ll want to check spam folders, too.
(Please Note: I’m not employed by Woot, but I volunteer to help in the forums.)
Probably a moot point, but you can usually revive the batteries with a power supply. (Manually charging them) They won’t charge on the DeWalt charger because the charger won’t charge if the voltage is below a minimum threshold. Half an hour supervised at 20v from a supply will fix this.
It took several days and it was a pretty frustrating process dealing with Woot customer service, but I got this resolved. Woot could take some cues from their parent company Amazon, when it comes to resolving order issues. Especially a situation like this where it was clear that what I was sent, wasn’t equal to what was advertised and what I ordered. Will think long and hard before ordering any power tools/batteries from Woot in the future.
Would still like to know if anybody else who ordered this also got a 4 year old kit.
Appreciate everyone’s input on this forum:)
