Something’s fishy (pew!). The ‘Full Suspension’ version has a Monarch shock, 3x9 AND hydaulic brakes for only $75 more?

But the pics don’t show the Monarch shock?

Where’s Woot’s stellar quality control on this? Or is this for reales?

Do these bikes ship fully assembled?

I noticed that the pictures look the same.

here is a picture of a bike with the rock shox and there is one in the video posted above as well. It is in front and below the seat.

Nothing fishy. Diamondback and other manufacturers make several versions of the same name bike. In this instance, the bike for sale is the basic Recoil. The Recoil
COMP is the higher end version with the Rockshox. The description is accurate. Very easy to get the facts straight by checking Diamondbacks website.

Some assembly is required.

The features section lists a coil spring rear shock and mechanical brakes for both models, but the specs section lists hydraulic brakes and a rear air-shock for the more expensive version? Which bike will I actually get if i buy the more expensive version?

Has anyone heard anything? What bike will you receive if you order the more expensive one? The one in the picture or the one detailed in the specs section.

Could it be that you will receive the bike in the picture, not the bike in the specs? The when you complain, you will be offered an amount of money or a return. They hope you will settle for $50 or some denomination to keep the bike.

You must not have read the specs. Specs say Monarch Rock Shox. So which is it?

I ordered the bike with Hydraulic disc brakes (in the specs), and received a mechanical disc bike. Not usable for me (been there, done that) I will never buy a bike with Mechanical discs. I guess this is going back. Hopefully they can send me the right bike.

I notice the specs for the Diamondback Recoil 29er Full Suspension Mountain Bike (the more expensive, silver one) have changed in the description too. The brakes are listed as “Tektro Aries Mechanical Disc, w/ 180mm Front / 160mm Rear Rotors” now, but the specs on the day of the the deal listed “Shimano BR-M355 Hydraulic Disc, w/ 180mm Front /160mm Rear Rotors” (I took a screenshot when I noticed there were some questions regarding the specs vs pictures).

I purchased the more expensive one with the expectation that I was paying that extra bit for those listed upgrades, including the brakes.

How about the rear shock? Is it really the Rockshox Monarch R? Does it really have the upgraded front fork? Is it 3x9 speed? Or are the two bikes exactly the same except for the color and price?

Whelp. False advertising at its best.

I ordered the more expensive option, largely because of the upgraded suspension and brakes. Sadly, what I received had none of these. The front fork, rear shock and brakes are all the same as on the cheaper red model. I paid $75 for silver (it does look nice though).

The front fork is the Suntour XCT, not the Suntour XCR-LO. The rear shock is the Kindshock Coil, not the RockShox Monarch R Air Spring. And the brakes are Tektro Aries Mechanical, not Shimano BR-M355 Hydraulic. And it’s 3x8, not 3x9.

I’m very upset about this, but thankfully I took a screenshot of the specs on the items when I made my order, so hopefully it will get resolved.

Mine comes tomorrow. Looks like I’ll be in the same boat. I was looking forward to the upgrades on the front fork, rear suspension, and hydraulic brakes. Let me know what Customer Service does for you, as I’ll likely have to contact them also. So what was the extra $75 for? That makes no sense. I actually like the look of the red bike better.

First offer to resolve was either $50 refund or I could return the bike (since they didn’t have the advertised one in stock). I’d already unpacked it so I wasn’t going to pack it back up (and I like the bike), and the difference in price between the one I bought and the one I got was $75, so I rejected that offer.

They then issued an $80 refund, but I responded that I didn’t find that satisfactory, since the cost of those upgrades would be $300+, and I was basically lied to - it was a bait and switch. I have not heard back from that response yet, though I did just receive an email from Woot with a UPS return label.

I’m fairly disappointed with Woot on this one, since they basically lied about the product, and some effort was made to cover that up since they changed the brakes listed in the specs after the sale ended. Hopefully they can resolve this satisfactorily.
