Disappointment popup

Sometimes when I am browsing “Shop Woot Deals” the following pops up, interrupting my plan to spend money:

I recall seeing that many years ago during woot-offs, maybe before a BOC came up?

But why did I get it tonight? And then I have to close the page to get rid of it so just now I lost my place scrolling the clearance stuff.

Sorry if it has been asked before (probably by me lol).

Ha ha, just use the Woot Search feature!

Disappointment is a built in feature, destined to pop up anytime, and certainly NOT limited to Woot Offs & BOC’s.

You mean, it is just messing with me?

So when I got it about 15 minutes ago it was just me? Or did everyone who was browsing where I was potentially see it too?

I seem to remember that can happen if they’re updating the site with new items. But I could be imagining things, too. I see it sometimes here and there, as have others. I think it’s meant as a placeholder while the site is trying to sort itself in the background.

Perfect explanation, I will just ignore it and start over haha. Thanks!

Hard to say without knowing what you were doing. If you’re able to reproduce it, post steps here and we can look at it.

Usually it pops up when the item that was supposed to display doesn’t for some reason.

I click the clearance tab under “shop woot deals”, look at daily woot, then scroll down through all the little thumbnails of clearance items. The popup prevents continuing to scroll.

Oh, I can “x” it closed, but it pops right back up! Then I have to start over with my scrolling on a new tab back at the beginning. This is not nearly the first time it happened doing that exact same thing.

What peaceetc said about new items being added as I am there makes a lot of sense. I say that because when I start over, there appear to be different/(more?) items (unless it is normal for the thumbnails to move around in different order?).

Anywho, it is on a laptop or occasionally desktop, never mobile. I’d say I have seen it happen half a dozen times.

PS I like the graphic on the popup and would probably buy it on a wootshirt.

Well, given the state of our system, it could be anything.

I’m rather fond of that graphic as well.

I am near certain it is associated with a sale item on a given page that is nearly exhausted in inventory. Have seen that most often and repeatedly in the clearance section.

If you refresh the screen it may still appear until the last of that item is sold.
