I have these glasses from woot (also the plates).
They are fantastic. They don’t break from regular use, including knocking over in the sink or during regular use and hand washing (in a house with four kids, to boot!).
Very durable, functional and attractive visually.
Yes, however, we’ve broken maybe a couple of the 36 we got from Woot in 2012 (for slightly more than this price).
As long as you don’t toss them around like they’re plastic they hold up pretty well. Nothing made of glass is going to be indestructible.
The other thing to watch out for is the slightly rounded lip of the glass, it makes them comfortable to drink from, but is also more vulnerable to damage than the rest of the glass.
Question: Are these the retail-boxed sets (like I believe I received from Woot last time) or the brown box version that I’ve seen with some of the individual sizes on Amazon?
Doesn’t really matter for my own use but good to know if considering gifting them.
In what I think is a fairly normal height cabinet, I stack them 2 high for the large size, 2-3 high for the medium size and 3-4 high for the small size without problems. Just be sure not to jam them together hard when stacking (which is pretty obvious with glass). If you do they can be a bit hard to separate, but I’ve never actually broken one that way, you just need to get a good grip and pull firmly with just a slight twist/rocking motion to dislodge them. It’s still better to avoid that though.
The smallest ones get a little tippy if you stack more than 3 high or so but not that bad. The medium and large nest securely.
Being able to stack them was a must for us so it ruled out all of the straight sided glasses from other companies.
If the others you have are Duralex Picardie in the same capacities they should be exactly identical dimensions. As far as I know they have been using the same molds “forever.”
On a side note there is a number formed into the bottom of each glass along with the logo that identifies the mold number that particular glass was formed in.
