Bought one three years ago from woot…LOVE it. although fair warning the shipping box is awkward and can fall over and give you a bruise that lasts over two years…not that I would know for any particular reason…
Funny, but we have one and it really sucks! We actually vacuumed up a mouse with ours. Was a bit cruel, watching him spin around the cannister until we could dump him out and hit him with a square point shovel, but he had to go. I hate Meeces to pieces! Killer vacuum!
there is absolutely no comparison in vacuums. We have a pet dyson (not from woot) and the handheld (from woot). I wouldn’t buy anything but.
actually my roomba purchase got me banned by my wife from woot for a while until i got her the dyson handheld and that made up for it.
As someone who has actually vacuumed up hamsters, I don’t recommend it.
In my defense I was young, very lucky that my vacuum didn’t have these wind tunnel vortex thingies, made sure to put in a clean bag, ad they were Russian dwarf hamsters.
You know, those ones that make horrible pets for young people since they never become used to humans and subsequently bite them constantly.
Oh, and they’re tricky little midget hamsters too. I literally had to keep bricks on aquarium lid to keep them in the tank. They escaped from every plastic and wire-barred cage.
Just like the time I vacuumed them up! They had escaped and were hiding ut in my parents master bathroom. We knew they were in there thanks to the “presents” they left on the food. First there were several attempts as the carrot, box, stick, string rig you see all the time in cartoons. It notably does not work.
But then we discovered - by trail of lettuce they left as they tried to bring the whole piece home - they had taken up residence under my mother’s built-in vanity. They were under the physical cabinet part by means of a little gap in the overhang and there was no way to get them out short of them coming out willingly.
That was, until I got the vacuum involved.
I put it on the hose setting, got a fresh new bag, and within moments of fishing around through the gap in the darkened depth under the vanity I heard it…
FLOOMP
And being quite amazed with my accomplishment, I fished around for a few more minutes until I heard it a second time…
FLOOMP
Delighted, I popped open the vacuum, tore open the bag, and retrieved two very very angry hamsters. They promptly bit me, and I promptly locked them back in their cage and glared at them angrily for a while.
So, yes, while hamster vacuuming is effective it’s really not recommended.
I bet it could suck a golfball through a garden hose!!!
I love my Dyson. Between the Norwegian Elkhound, the two long-haired cats, and an assorted crew of chip-scattering teenage males, the Dyson is essential for my sanity. If I didn’t already own one I would be in for one so fast.
Well, this certainly sucks.
So Woot is selling yours?
Just bought this one. my sister called me up from work and is like. HOLY SHIT! buy it for me. and i’ll pay you back!
she said they are very good.
so here is hoping it’s great.
thanks woot.
Who wants an investment in Housekeeping , Aint that what we have kids for ? lol
This vacuum is indredible at picking up pet hair. In fact, I would go so far as to say that I believe it also picks up shed hair and fur from mythical beasts such as centaurs and griffins.
You don’t want stinky, old centaur hair lying around, do you? Of course not!
Have the same Vacuum… totally rawks! I have three cats and a dog!
I like my Dyson. I also like my dog. Trust me, the dog is a much better pet.
Does anyone have any woot off checker suggestions? The usual ones I try are either down or just not workin’ right. (It has more to do with my work computer than anything else so I just need as many choices as possible. =P)
Just bought this DC28 a week or two ago from woot. It just arrived a few days ago and it is awesome.
I bought a DC14 from woot four years ago and that was a BIG step up from my old junky Eureka. The DC28 wasn’t as big of a step up from the DC14, but it’s definitely an improvement. This vacuum seems to have much more suction power to pull up sand and small particles.
Not sure if it’s as powerful as a Kirby, but I’ll find out next time the Kirby guys stop by. All in all, I’m very pleased with this unit.
Fun Fact: Woot should never sell vaccuums.
Most people buy a much cheaper sufficient vaccuum because they don’t tend to eat off of their carpet and don’t seek to, so you average wal-mart $50 machine will work just fine. Then the people that buy fancier machines like this have already bought them full price new.
So instead we get to stare at this thing for the next 2-3 hours as random people with expendable income or extremely high stndards for carpet cleanliness wander along and pick one up. If it weren’t for items like this, a wootoff probably wouldn’t make it 24 hours…
I thought griffins had feathers…
Mesa Thinks We’ll Be here for awhile
By the stats on Dyson’s website, this one looks to be a much better vacuum than either of the balled, animal models (DC24/DC25), based on sucking power, and more attachments, etc. Though it is about twice as heavy as the DC24.
