Not a good topic on a first date in a loud bar.
These are absolutely worth it.
If you frequently attend concerts, or go out where there is loud music (bars, clubs, etc.), then I would strongly recommend getting them.
Protect your hearing at all times!
You can’t get it back.
I developed hyperacusis after a TBI from a car accident and these earbuds have been beyond amazing. Can’t recommend them enough.
Just for the record the “funny” description by Woot is not really accurate because these still let you understand people just fine.
The way to test them (outside of wearing them at concert) is to put them in and then wear headphones… I could turn the volume to maximum and it sounded and felt fine ![]()
Does this product make anyone else’s clever-marketing-but-little-substance sense tingle? I’ve bought 3M ear plugs of this same identical shape, 5 pair for less than ten bucks. They were great for a Foreigner concert 3 rows from the stage but I wouldn’t call their frequency attenuation flat. Has any reputable reviewer or organization plugged a pair of these into a miniDSP EARS rig and measured a set of cans with and without? What if there’s twice the attenuation in the midrange, leaving the world sounding all Bose Acoustimass V-shaped?
Wait, what was that? You…can’t…what…huh?…back?
Hehe.
Not funny. But true. I sometimes feel that sadly, the word “what?” is the most used word in my vocabulary.
I didn’t find them to attenuate flat but they sounded well balance. I heard a scoop in the highs and high mids which helps to “take the edge” off things like cymbal crashes but wasn’t too detrimental to the overall sound.
I preferred a different brand, but ymmv.
Not for use at a shooting range, correct? I usually double up, using foam earplugs along with earmuffs… Would these be good to replace the foams?
What?
No, not for use at the shooting range at all
Ok just wore them at a concert tonight. When i put them in during the first song I thought I had gotten the size wrong as the sound wasnt smashed like im normally used to with ear plugs in a concert. The sound was coming in so clear that i couldnt tell that they were working. That is until i ran off to get my bauhaus tshirt and realized the ear plugs had sealed well and my ears werent ringing at all. Ive been to a lot of concerts for work and for play, way too many without earplugs and many with noise mushing plugs trying to save my hearing. These were impressive that they didnt impact the quality of sound and range at all while reducing the decibles. I would try to wear a smaller size plugs next time. Id like a few more decibles less personally. But definately a good buy!
Back in college, when I was roughly 19, I went to a party with a friend of mine. I did not realize (and people will find it amazing how quickly it happens) just how loud the music was. When we left, it felt like my ears were underwater and everything was drowned out (and then the ringing started later). I asked him about it and he said “oh that’s normal.” I had some choice words for him after that. Ever since, I’ve always had ear protection of some form in when in loud places.
I actually bought some of these some years ago. I keep a pair in the car at all times - just in case, so I always have a pair on me.
On another note, when I was in college (this was about a year later), whenever I was in the student center, I could always know when there was one guy in particular who came in because I would hear the music coming from his in-ear phones - from around the corner, and all the way in the back of the room.
Whenever we talked to him, almost without fail, the first response he would always give was “huh?”
He wasn’t even 20 at that time.
