What is, if there is any, the difference between the Echo Plus units featured here and the first-generation Amazon Echo units?
Good morning. This one has a built-in hub:
Echo Plus is a simple way to start your smart home. It has a built-in ZigBee smart home hub, which allows for simple and direct setup of compatible ZigBee lights, locks, plugs, and in-wall switches from brands like Philips Hue, GE, and Yale. No additional hub required.
How is the sound quality for these compared to 1st gen?
Some people claim the 1st gen Echo Plus doesn’t have as good of sound as the regular 1st gen Echo.
I have several of both and can’t tell the difference in multi-room use. I’ve never done a side by side but then again, I’m not an audio snob and enjoy the multi-room music in my house and around my office.
