Echo Show 5 – Compact smart display with Alexa

Echo Show 5 – Compact smart display with Alexa

I have a Show 5 I bought new back in February. It has some sort of display issue in that it will suddenly stop working correctly and instead just display thin colored lines across the screen. Amazon’s solution? Unplug it for 3 minutes. That worked twice. Every time it’s happened since then (at least three times a month) it’s taken hours upon hours of leaving it unplugged and plugging it back in every so often to see if it works. Each time takes longer than the last… It happened last week and it took over 3 days of it being unplugged before the screen returned to normal. I would imagine many customer returns suffer the same malady…

What generation is this? Doesn’t specify or show release year. Plus they’re multiple and repeated “very good” options for condition. Can those be explained/specified?

Based on the price, they’re first generation. Conditions are based on the Amazon condition codes.

So, why are there conditions of “Used - Very Good”, “Used - Very Good (1)”, and “Used - Very Good (2)”? Amazon’s conditions seem to be “Used - Very Good”, “Used - Good”, and “Used - Acceptable”. Can anyone give a reference to these parenthetical conditions, or does Woot have some internal reason for them?

BTW, the specs (1MP camera and 3.5mm speaker jack) indicate 1st gen, but yes, that would be best specified in the listing. The 2nd gen ups the camera a bit, and drops the 3.5mm speaker jack. It seems the internal specs are the same.

Hello, sorry for the confusion on the conditions. Used Very Good (1), Used Very Good (2), etc. are all the same condition, just in separate locations, so we have to have a drop down for each. What we’re selling today is the Echo Show 5 (1st Gen, 2019 release). I’ll go ahead and update the title with this information.
