Mine finally arrived yesterday. Very cool light; the white is brighter than I expected, and the blue and red are great for close work. Quality product, and the serial number is a nice touch, especially since mine ends in 007.
Now about that shipping.
Dallas to the Woodlands is 213 miles. Delivery took 12 days from the order, or 288 hours. That works out to an average speed of 0.74 MPH, which may, in fact, be the slowest shipping service on the planet.
Hey You! Your infrared not working?! Maybe nothing working!!? I found out how to fix it!
My flashlight worked fine until I checked to see if the IR led worked, and it didn’t :(. Seems like Woot shipped out some bad lights to us. You can bug them to get a replacment, or fix it yourself if you have a SMALL SCREWDRIVER. http://imgur.com/yNKxkl.jpg
I figured I could fix it, all you need is a screwdriver! (tiny head one)
I noticed how the IR switch just tripped two different contacts, one for the regular mode, the other for the IR mode (here I am completing the regular light circuit with my handy-woot-flashlight-8-in-1) http://imgur.com/6GqPSl.jpg
I found that this contact side completes the IR circuit, and mine happened to be bent inward a bit http://imgur.com/j37Tfl.jpg
All you have to do is bend these contact plates upward a bit using a small screwdriver (bend up both sides) http://imgur.com/hKWqfl.jpg
**When putting the switch back on, you might have to squeeze the contacts back down on each side to prevent them from catching on the switch: http://imgur.com/m5ChFl.jpg
YAY ITS (not)BROCCOLI (but)INFRARED! http://imgur.com/2VoGnl.jpg
Here is a comparison to the 8-in-1 tool torch (which runs on 2 AAA’s that power 3 LEDS) http://imgur.com/x9385l.jpg
And that is all! Wish Woot was able to check these lights for functionality, or at least ship them out a bit faster. Woot dropped down on my list of cool companies, but this flashlight will hold them steady for a while.
I ended up getting mine today (first day back at the office from a vacation).
Everything works well except for the red LED. The Button/switch seems to be broken. It will easily come on… but turning it off requires the user to dig around in the rubber pocket to try to flip the switch/acuator thing. Its annoying, but I think I can live with it.
The light really is quite bright and I cant wait to use it while camping this weekend.
I got three lights, two of which work. The third one has functional red and blue lights, but the switch for the main beam (and infrared) won’t activate when the base is screwed in. If you unscrew it, you can hear the action, but once it’s on it won’t click/activate.
Unlock the button at the bottom and turn the bottom counter clockwise to install the batteries. Got my light today, works perfect and a lot brighter then I thought. I was perfectly fine waiting a week or so and saving a hundred dollars.
So far well worth the wait, the white beam is powerfull and clear. I only wish I had ordered three. I would be able to sell it to someone in my unit for $50 easy, since they are $70 at the PX. Thanks Woot.
Well…I see why these are on Woot. I got two and glad I didn’t pay anymore for them. Though at first they seem well-made, in fact the appearance is a bit misleading. One has a wonky white LED contact, the base has to be turned just so to work. But thanks to a poster above me for detailed instructions and photos on how to possibly fix that. For having only two AA batteries it’s larger than I thought. I saw the IR lamp working using a point-and-shoot camera, have no idea how bright it is with NVGs. And really, the switching is a bit strange.
I would surely like to replace the useless blue LED with a uV LED, to find fluorescent rocks. I may try it…

Yep, that’s exactly how I fixed mine (before I saw your post).
Don’t forget the step where you slip with the tiny screwdriver and carve a slice in your palm. And the picture of the SpongeBob SquarePants Band-Aid that you used to repair it. That’s a very important part that I made sure not to miss.
Thanks for the detailed explanation and pictures! Saved me the trouble of writing it up myself!
Got mine today and was a bit under-impressed. The lights would not turn on unless I tilted the base just right; not a very useful for a functional light. I did read the instructions given earlier about working with the electrical contacts, so I decided to give it a try. Now the lights work, but the IR feature, which I do not require, no longer works. Also, the “Lock” switch which I did NOT touch froze in the locked position and the only way to “use” the lock switch is to loosen the screw that holds it down and the tighten it back up. No wonder someone was trying to dump these things.
Got mine a couple days ago. Wish I would have bought a couple or three. Mine works as it should. I was able to see the IR and IR strobe in my cellphone camera.
Got it and I am really ticked off. This is the first product I have ever purchased from woot and the main light and infrared do not work. Will woot reimburse us or do I have to go through the hassle of sending it back to the manufacture only to have them lie and say everything works fine?
Also the lock seems to be stuck in the lock position. I can press down on it but I cannot move it into the unlocked position, is this why the white LED light does not work?

I have the exact same issue right now. Have you been able to fix it?
