Escort Passport Radar & Laser Detector

Had the 8500 for about 4 years now and paid $299 for it…Worth every penny.

this is a waste. get your self a radar & lazer “blocker” any will do. it reads the fequancy and matches it in microseconds. this “blinds” the police devices, giving them nothing. you dont even have to worry about it. get a blocker, not a detector. a detector will tell you when you’re caught, a blocker stops any signal from going back to the radar/lazer device targeting you.they are still cheaper then a ticket, and they actually work, all the time.

I have a similar Solo unit. See the power button on the right? Poorest design ever. Mine failed within 2nd year of use. Turns on, will not turn off. Eventually broke completely. No power on or off. Escort would not even accept for repair, wanted me to buy a redesigned unit, and here they are fobbing off these deficient design products. Avoid.

I’ve been wanting one of these for a while now and am excited to see one here. But I’m moving in 2 weeks and worry it won’t arrive in time. I’ve never noticed whether or not Woot has expedited shipping. Does anyone know?

RADAR “jamming” is illegal anywhere in the US and Canada as it is regulated by the FCC, being a wireless signal. Laser, as a light source, is legal to jam/spoof as there are no “current” regulations against it.

Jamming Laser does not put a shield around your car that allows you to drive up to and past the cop. It allows you to adjust your speed before you get close enough where the jammer no longer works. Eventually those bumper mounted laser spoofing diodes will not be lined up to mess with the laser gun and the laser gun will get your speed.

Do some research on your local, county and state police departments and what they use for speed control. Very few police departments use laser as it has a number of drawbacks:

  • must be within 1000 ft
  • requires the operator aim it (like a gun)
  • laser is effected by snow, rain, fog and even if shot through a windshield or closed window
  • the laser gun must be stationary
  • may have accuracy issues in high UV environments (those southern sunny states)

You might be surprised to find out that your local PD do not even use laser - though some places do.

Check your State laws before spending $$$ on a laser-jammer. They are illegal in Texas as of about 2 years ago. They don’t always get you out of a ticket. If the cop figures out his gun is being jammed, you end with a change of obstructing a police officer…a far worse charge than speeding. I’m just sayin’ be careful.

Wellll, Radar Roy sells those units, but not the V1. Maybe some influence due to that??

Disclosure: I’ve had Valentine 1’s for years…street proven and reliable. I’ve had Escorts and other models but they just don’t do the job.

Yes, Roy “promotes” the Escort lineup and does so for more then “kickbacks”, if he gets any. he doesn’t bash the V1, just gives the dirt on the good and bad. I liked the features of the 9500ix and I’m not willing to give up it’s abilities for .50 to 1 second signal trip. Having been running a 9500 since 2009, (same unit) and unit nr 2 since 2011. I’m sticking with the standard. If I need arrows, I’ll look in my side mirrors that light up when someone is next to me.

This is a nice place to check whats legal or illegal

Thanks for that, I was not aware that it was illegal in Texas. Apparently it is also illegal in all or parts of 11 other states.

It would be stupid to keep rolling past a cop with the jammer on anyways. They are going to know something is going on. Slow down and turn it off, allowing them to get a good speed reading would make pretty good sense.

Does this unit have Traffic Signal Rejection (TSR) and/or Escort live?

I live near a doppler radar dish (we have windshear issues here in Dallas) and it sets off my laser alarm when I drive by the dish. Escort acknowledges this is a known issue, but I just mute it.

What the fook does it matter? This company won’t ship things to certain places for bull feces reasons, but they’ll sell illegal knives and radar detectors. Sounds legit.

I don’t need you to speak for me, princess.
